Good opportunity for us to brush up on our Greek history because Eunoia is coming.
All JCs have 'Houses'. They can be called Athena, Zeus, Titans and Pegasus. ia (yeah), I've learned some new Greek names.

Hmmm.... something along the lines of a Grecian robe perhaps? Must tie in with the concept of the school's name mah.

Liddat can save money on uniforms liao. The ancient Greeks adorn nary a thread on themselves. Think Hercules or Athena.

You know yeah, no need ties too. Wear head garlands instead. Beautiful :please:

Like that everyone would want to be in the House of Zeus leh. He's the King of Gods.

The aggressive ones should be in the House of Ares, the wise ones in the House of Athena, those full of love in the House of Aphrodite, etc.

A talking sorting hat would probably help 😉

Technically, Hercules is a Roman name. Heracles is the name in Greek.

Since Moe like Greek so much, might as well rename it to Hercules Junior college, sound better, sound more heroic than Euronia

              Imagine :
during inter Junior colleges Sports meet, eg like Rugby (Eunonia vs RI) having Sports competiton, with one side of spectators shouting \"go Raffles go\", now we hear another side of supporters (dressed up pomp pomp girls) shouting loudly \"go, nonya go\" (when spectators' mouth begin to get tired of shouting 3 sound syllabus cheering \"go Eunoia, go\", shout aloud 2 sound syllabus \"go Nonya, go\" instead. Pls do not shout \"go, eunuch go\")

If change to Hercules, isn't it better for them to shout \"go, Hercules, go\" !

                You-know-ah? I don't know.

The Greek name Eunoia has no link or significance to the 3 feeder schools. So what if Eunoia means \"beautiful mind\" (想得美 初中)? Anyone who has been a parent before would know that if one's surname is 胡, do not name his baby 莉晶, else the child will be teased for the rest of her life.

Previously, many forummers suggested many other nice names like \"College By the Park\" etc, I think more atas and more relevant to the local context.
This year, Cut off point for St Nick IP was very high at 258

COP for SCGS IP and Catholic High IP : both also 253

The students who chose IP for these 3 schools, do not know that they will graduate with A level, from Eunonia Junior College yet, at that time when they submitted their list of 6 choices Secondary schools.

Next year (psle 2016 batch, born 2004) : predict COP will drop, now that name of the IP JC has been out, announced in the press.
Some of my friends with P6 sons sitting for Psle next year, said they will \"Siam\" this JC, because of its awful name.
They said they will divert to other JC, apply to other IP schools instead.
They said they do not want to see this name, printed out on their GCE A level certificate, & to use it to apply for overseas university.

This is the repurcussion of naming a JC, that people find uncomfortable with

With all the online poking at Eunoia, the alumni of the three schools are really feeling it now.

We are not talking about a name for a new JC but this JC is associated to three schools with long history.
Yep. A JC for SNGS, Cat H and SCGS, and this is the best they can do. A real travesty

The leaders defended the name but it's a tad too 勉强。There exist many other meaningful english words, why Greek? No Singapore spirit to speak of. AEIOU JC maybe?

The way the leaders defended it made Singaporeans sounded so shallow and didnt bother to look beyond the pronunciation lol.

Errh, excuse me GreenBird, it's Eunoia, not Eunonia. Can't blame you for mispelling 'cause it is likely to happen to anyone as we know no Greek.
MOE spokesman said it is pronounced as 'yoo-noh-iea' but I did a google search and it is 'eu-no-ya'. So who is right?
