      StillThinking:

Well, I have nvr been to an office so I have no idea, but why wld people even be talking about it at the workplace. Like of all topics, from shopping to food, why their child's school. This is a question I had. Schools do very little actually, its just how much you will enjoy school time that it affects. Also, a cop of 249 may not mean it is less popular than a cop of 248. 2 years ago, SNGS's cop was 245, this was because everyone had lower t-scores and people who scored 249 didn't think they wld make it and didn't even apply. If anyone were to talk about it like what you said, I wld just say this, I do not think they can say much but I will listen to your reply before I jump to conclusions. My friend's sister went to SCGS, she scored just enough to get into the IP stream, but she didn't like it and so she didn't pick it. I heard the principal even went to her class to ask her to consider it and passed the form to her. Also, I saw a post that IP students do not all fare well in studies. At the end of the day, O level students study 6 years(Secondary plus JC) and IP students do too. Both merely gain different experience. I was also nvr the little kid whose childhood was a wonderland.
Adults spend a great deal of time in the office so they will share about their families too and therefore their kids. There are also 'office politics' which are strategies some people use to gain personal advantage such as promotion and higher salary. Life will be more complicated when you started working. But for the time being, just enjoy the camaraderie you are going to have in your new school and I wish you success in your pursuit of IP. 😄

StillThinking, may I ask you a few questions and answer me honestly without any help from others, alright?

        1. Refer to what you had written earlier about the unfairness of affiliation cop, now that you are officially a student of sngs, will you still stand by that belief and voice your opinion about its unfairness to your sch if given a chance?
        (Yes/No)

        2. If a parent from sngs were to bring other schs' kids down by claiming that sng girls are better in moral values, humility, behaviour etc as compared to kids from other (neighbourhood pri or sec) schs, will you agree with her or another parent who tries to dispute upon that?
        (Yes/No)

For 1: I still feel that affilation is... annoying(can't seem to find the right word that is not as severe as stupid and has a bit of the annoyance meaning in it). Thus, I wld if given the chance. Though I wld probably be voicing out the unfairness for all the schools, since, I feel affiliation isn't really fair, for all schools actually. Still, I agree that sometimes spots are worked hard for, thus like I said, the affiliation cop shld be something like 5 points from the cop.
For 2: I wld disagree with that parent. If the parent was proud, he/she cld have just said that her girl in sngs/sngs girls has/have high moral values, and all. There is no need to say other people are worse than them. I may or may not agree with the other parent, depending on what she says. If she says something like: NO! SNGS girls are trash or something. If she has evidence that every single one of sngs girls are like trash, fine. I won't disagree. Though I will still ask that parent to not say it in such a mean manner. No matter what, if it is a hate comment, even if I agree with it, I will ask whoever who said it to say it in a more kind manner, I mean, there are so many words in english, there isn't a need to use the meanest of words. If the parents were to say something which also compares people, I wld have the same thought as above, and reply from there. If that parent said something like what I mentioned, I may just agree with her.

Woah! I like the way you answer. Very objective. 🆒
But next time when it's your dd's turn to go sngs, I wonder if you will regret what you'd said. 😉
Anyway, school is going to start tomorrow. Do concentrate on your studies. Cheerio!

However, isn't the only time they have to share stuff like at lunch or something? I mean, pretty sure there will be some crazy strict superior in every company right? No? Fine. Ya, heard about office politics, can't say I do not expect there to be something like that. Thks, I guess 😄 ...

At the age of 8, I do remember wondering how come my classmate’s mother was the form teacher of my class in Primary Two. I can’t help but wonder at the impartiality of the marking of his tests and exams then.

No, we are all born with natural "political instincts". Experience only makes us more sensitive to them. If anything, age only makes us more cynical of the human condition.

So, no, we are not age limited here. I’m not sure why 12 year olds would want to yak with us old fogeys, about boring stuff such as affiliation, but hey, it does make me feel younger, for one.

Eunoia, despite all the justification, parents, students & alumni still can't accept it.
