2017 P1 Registration Exercise for 2018 In-Take
-
I am contemplating of applying PV for Ngee Ann Primary, and if lucky enough to get in and clock-in the required PV hours and successfully get into 2B registration.
What if during the registration I decide to try my luck in another school at Phase 2C, but unfortunately the situation of me getting a place is very very slim. Will I be able to go back to Ngee Ann in 2C phase and will I be accorded priority since PVed there ? -

Yes, you may go back to Ngee Ann during P2C. As P1 registration is a transparent process, you will not be treated differently. However, should your child be unsuccessful in P2C and you decide to put your child in the waitlist, that's when your hard work in PV comes in. It is purely up to the school principal on the ranking in the waitlist.I am contemplating of applying PV for Ngee Ann Primary, and if lucky enough to get in and clock-in the required PV hours and successfully get into 2B registration.

One should only give up a confirmed space in the earlier phase if the probability of getting in is more than very very slim (I would advocate surrendering the space only if the place in Phase 2C is guaranteed; others may have a different level of risk tolerance). -

Sengkang Green - Yes.Hi ,

Thanks,
Rosyth - No (unless your child is a citizen).
And the above is assuming you are accepted into PV - which is already a big question mark. That said, Sengkang has a number of schools that don't need balloting in Phase 2C and PR should get in quite easily. -
Hi KSP, i am new to this forum, great i found this forum after some tiring search on primary school for my kid. Stay at Yishun. 1st choice will be chong fu due to nearest proximity follow by Yishun Primary / Ahmad Ibrahim. Gonna apply PR for my kid.
Wonder if there is chance for PR kid in chong Fu?
As base on the historical table, 100% balloting. Just not sure those balloting were 100% SC or include PR with < 1km?
Also between Yishun Primary and Ahmad Ibrahim which one would be better? both academic and CCA / overall development. Understand ppl always say all Sg school are good school. But in my thought the environmental condition also play a part (近朱者赤 近墨者黑)。 if there is any existing parent in both school to share the situation would be great (school environment, teacher quality and enthusiasm, attitude of students there, average PSLE result etc). Some time open day for the school cannot really tell the actual quality of the school as it's just minutes of review, recent ex student or parent would be more relevant in my view.
Although there still 2 years time, but as KSP already start to have headache on which school to enroll him.
Jiemin from the table also 100% ballot, is this school performing?
Thanks for KSP valuable comment on my queries. Are 1st timer parent to sent kid to study in Sg P1, no experience. Appreciate the sincere sharing. -

Considering the http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=160 these days, I would be worrying more about that than identifying a primary school. You may have to expand your search to international schools or schools back home if you can't secure the PR status. -
Dear floppy,
Thanks for the response, I agree with on difficulty to secure PR now. I might in good fate and luck, but these are depend on ICA.
I would need Plan A and Plan B of cause. Plan A would be PR approve then will opt for the above 4 school. Do you have idea on how Yishun, Ahmad Ibrahim and Jiemin perform? Overall. My feel is Yishun Primary > jiemin > Ahmad from the observation of student met roadside. but these could be wrong, any thought?
Plan B will be international school, btw Yishun region do have international school? From my observation i think no, probably further from Yishun have? Any KSP has suggestion on international school at north? Definitely the one closer to Yishun vicinity the best.
Thanks for KSP valuable opnion for my consideration. -
Hi,
After considering our options and probabilities of getting into the preferred schools of our choice, we have decided to layout a few standbys. May I know if anyone out there has knowledge or good review of the following schools :
1). Hougang Primary
2). Xin Min Primary
Thank you…Andy
