I wonder why they do that ?
THey are still doing Higher Chinese for all P3s right.

My girl said first 2 days were chaotic and confusing. πŸ˜“

Although all P3s are doing Higher Chinese (HCL), but every child scored differently.
Hence, need to clarify with Tr what is the banding criteria by Chinese, at the next meeting with Tr. They have yet to let P3 parents know.

      example

based on end of P2 year end HCL results (Higher Chinese) :
      - is it all those scored above 85 for HCL go to one group, while below 85 go to another group ?

      Or

      - is it break out, group by every 5 marks interval ?
      eg
those scored 95 to 100 : go to 1st group,

those scored 90 to 94 : go to 2nd group,

those scored 85 to 89 : go to 3rd group,

those scored 80 to 84 : got to 4th group,

those scored 75 to 79 : go to 5th group,

those scored 70 to 74 : got to 6th group,

      ... etc

all the way, until the Chinese last class : with all borderline cases

Thanks ! Hopefully the teacher will explain on that day. I also hope they will explain how the split the girls in the first place. Btw is this also the year they have GEP? :scratchhead:

so far, for P3 : they only split Chinese, based on P2 year end results.

some were asking : so after splitting, which Chinese class' results better ?
They were asking around, which is the Top Chinese class : is it class 3A or 3D ?

to get the answer, we began to trace which Chinese class the top girl for Chinese subject from our P2 class last year (2015), end up in, this year.
happen that she is from China, usually scored full marks (100), for regular Term tests, and at P2 SA2 year end (Term 4) results.
She excel in both Paper 1 (zuo wen), and in Paper 2 (Chinese compreh, vocab, etc)
by tracing where she end up in, can get the answer, which Top class for Chinese

regarding P3 Gep Clearing Tests :
Yes, every year, every batch, Round 1 is conducted in August

or is the natural of a GEP test un-preparable?

every year, many Rgps students will prepare for Gep clearance tests, starting from P2, onwards.
Parents tend to send them to Mindstretcher / Learning Lab, start preparing.

A number will clear Round 1.
Round 2 : not so many, can clear

from historical trend, normally each batch, after sitting 2 round of clearance tests, our own Rgps in-house students occupy approximately (1 and a half) Gep classes.

those who get in (whether through training or are naturally gifted, without require any training) :
if naturally bright, should be able to cope.
But, if not truly gifted (ie. through hot-housing), even after manage to get in, may struggle, may sink.

                2016 :
                Rgps dropped one Gep class.
we used to have three Gep classes (P, Q, R)
now, end up with only two Gep classes (4P, 4Q, 4R is gone)

                  hi P3 parents,

anyone know why class 3A, don't even have a Main Form Tr ?
                  (lop-sided)

in contrast, class 3G have so many Tr ?
3G have a Main Form Tr (Mrs Tan), plus 2 Co-Form Tr (Mrs Luwena Goh, who is English HOD, plus Tr Ms Veronica Teo)

is it because more Top girls tend to conglomerate in class 3G ?
(so, put a heavy weight English HOD, there)

Notice there's only 7 P3 classes. Did they increase the class sizes as compared to When they were in P2 ?

not increase class size, but re-shuffle the existing pool of P2 students to enter P3, plus add in some more new Transfer students from other primary schools, at end of P2.

                      7 P3 classes is correct :
because each P3 class now hold 40+ pupils, instead of hold only max 30 pupils in P2 per class

although all 7 P3 classes are supposed to be MA (Mixed ability) -
however, the fact that class 3A don't even have a Main Form Tr (so strange), whereas in contrast class 3G got so many Tr stationed there, plus put a heavy weight English HOD (Mrs Luwena Goh) as one of the Co-Form Tr :
may imply that pupils who tend to excel or Top in English subject at end of P2, are purposely placed into class 3G.
Hence, place an English HOD there to manage these students, who excel in English.

if place a subject HOD in a certain class, usually mean something :
either to help weak students to catch up, or to strengthen the existing pool of strong students, because HOD are there to either solve problem or to scale class to greater height, can be either way

Yes, I agree with phtthp point that HOD Teacher is placed there to strengthen the bright ones. Usually HODs are assigned to top classes.
