My child is in Anderson JC science, life is much less hectic compared to secondary school days. No need to buy testbooks, the teacher will print notes for the student. He is able to come home for dinner every school days. Currently ,staying about 40 mins bus journey from AJC. Another plus point to consider is that Anderson JC is very near to Yio Chu Kang MRT.

      Thanks Susan,

Can I know whether the teaches at Anderson JC are compassionate about teachings ?

I know some teachers in the top JC don't even bother to teach & cannot teach to even save their life !

So far, I have not heard of such negative comments about any of the teachers that my child had. When I asked some teachers if there are any other recommended text that my child should have, their reply is : they would provide them with sufficient notes. My child is not attending tuition, he is doing well in the exams, I am happy with the the teaching in school. I think AJC is a no- frills JC, very down to earth school.

Anyone has some comments between CJC and MJC?

CJC is separated from MJC by some Distance

CJC has affiliated students from the Catholic schools and one of those first generation JC

Not long ago some people insinuated that MJC has a \"target\" retention rate for JC1 students

The entry score for CJC is very different from MJC

Nobody insinuated that MJC has a target retention rate and it was already clarified in earlier posts.
NYJC principal Mr Kwek recently mentioned that they retain about 35 students. I believe there is no retention quota. Then he should have said that there is no figure available because it changes every year. But he mentioned 35. So 35 is the average number and we can use that as an estimate when we post in forum. Nobody is trying to badmouth the JC when she is just trying to share an information.

The insinuation and accusation was in another thread

I was the one who called the JC to verify. I remember the debate b

I admire students who do not need tuition and still doing well.
susan88, can give some tips on your ds studying method?
Besides ajc's lecture notes and tutorials, can share what other materials he uses for practice and revisions?
Does he consult his teachers often?
                TIA

I think could be because we do not send him for tuition since young. Tuition classes are too expensive and time consuming, so he had learn the skill of finding out how to gain knowledge thru asking teachers, parents and internet research…so he knows that he have to “靠自己”。

I've been told that KI is only for the very able students with a bent towards philosophical thinking. A lot of independence of thought and ability to do their own research is required. It also cuts down the no. of H2 subjects the student can take. That may attract some, but maybe not all students.
