      Oh My Gosh:
Sometimes I wonder if DS is taking PSLE this year :? I am stressed that DS is not stressed and his school is not stressing the PSLE batch yet.

Stressed because there is no stress... the irony 😂

But I am sailing in the same boat with you. :celebrate:

Mine also. Spelling list for both Eng and Chinese out and the first mo xie was done and signed. Come back everyday with lots of homework. Health education period taken away and replaced. But so far still ok and manageable. Can feel the 'heat'.

        Jia You to all!
Everyday English, math and science homework...all subjects 2 sets each.
Takes about an hour to finish them. Stuffs her ears with ear plugs while doing math. When done with hw, she is tired. But daily revision is important. So I give her 10 min rest and then do science MCQ.

          Oh My Gosh:
I am a working mother. Even if I reached home on good days at 7pm+, DS will be sitting in front of the TV i.e. he has finished all his homework. Then by 930pm, he will be in bed. Since P1, he is independent in doing all his homework before I reached home, only asking me questions if he has difficulties. So it seems that his school has yet to \"beef up\" yet for PSLE? He is in the top class in a branded school so I am feeling a bit puzzled - unless his school is going slow first. Let's see...

How I wish my DS will be like yours!
I'm working too, hence he is at home alone most of the time till my hubby and I return about 7-8 pm.
Think he waits till we are about to come home bef he does his hwk, hence no time for me to give him more. Difficult to monitor him while working. Call or text him in the afternoon, he will say he is going to start doing hwk. Now, he doesn't even want me to look at his hwk or bag. He says no complain from teacher, means he is ok! Oh dear!
My hubby asks me to \"let go\" and let my boy manage, but it is P6 year, can I? So far his result is ok but if I let go, worried it will drop.

I think it's great that your DS has been operating fine all this while and his results are good. No one would want to have to sit with their kids and watch them as they do work - else they don't do. DSes do their work before I come home, even if there is spillover, I won't want to watch them (TV nicer). I don't assign work because they have external classes already (part of our pact) and so far they been doing alright too.

The road is long ahead, I rather they keep their sanity with some games and fun than to bury their noses in school work all day long.

              Agree.

Guess I’ll wait and see his CA results.
Can’t control his usage of HP and computer in the afternoon, so only can hope he will be self-disciplined.

You can install cctv. More like a deterrence device rather than spying. You can set it up together with your ds

My kids will switch on cctv when I'm out of the house running errands. I don't check actively but at least the device is there

                  Now too late for me.

Should have done it when he was in lower primary.
Since last yr, he will argue with me, saying that I don’t trust him when I call/text to check on him every 1-2 hrs.
Guess I’ll let him continue his "lifestyle" (playing computer/ phone games as daily relaxation) as long as he maintains his results. Don’t want to spoil our relationship because of schoolwork. … Though, I hope he can improve and make it to IP/IB school.

if learning ability and syllabus is ahead, then i will definitely feel relieved.

hubby usually takes evening walks. i thought of going for a walk to lose some weight...daughter wanted to go along when she still has school homework to be completed. simply no sense of urgency

its another PSLE yr for my DD2. from my past experiences with my DS & DD1, their PSLE results was pretty close to their P5 & P6 Prelim… so roughly I could tell how my DD2 is doing… All kids have diff levels of abilities & i do hope my last DC will have some motivation & encouragement from her elder bro/sis to do well in her PSLE tis yr. I thk luv & care is the most impt factor in a child’s development. To be there when they need the most & try not to compare them with someone. I restrict their TV programs during weekdays & i will try to go back early & seat around with them to see how their studies. Nowadays kids are really stress out in sch so the last thing they need is someone nagging at them when they reached home. When they have peace of mind, then they will study better.

Comparison is a no-no…every child is different.

With some experience having gone through once with older one, I try not to repeat mistakes made. More hands-on this time and working closely with the tutors to be back up on the other 6 days when there is no tuition.
