chrisho, does your child look dull and listless?? If so, then there is a problem. If no, maybe ok....just on the way there...*just kidding* perhaps he is enjoying it. But my suggestion is go out in the sun or exercise more....this probably can help in all the subjects overnight.

My child do look dull and listless especially when comes to study. He sit at his desk star at his book /worksheet but his mind is always elsewhere. That happens in school and he easily forget what tr said in school, how. 😢 :?:

        sorry to interrupt

sometimes it is also the teachers - how they interact with certain students, how they \"command\" the class, blaming / chiding students unfairly etc that will turn the students off

suggest go have a talk with the form teachers / subject teachers to find out what is \"going on\" and what could be done

i share this because there was a year my child had a very \"bossy\" teacher that turns many students off for that subject. fortunately my child come back home told us what is happening - so we counseled our child why teachers behave like that. fortunately the grades did not drop for that subject for that year. in subsequently years, the grades went up a lot

My son is now in P4 and have tution for all the 4 subjects with additional lesson for English and Chinese Compo as he's weak in all subjects. All my friends told me it's too much tution for him. But how? I'm worry that his marks will get worst when come to PSLE!

6 groups of tuition for 4 subjects, yes, that's an overkill in my opinion. There is also a potential that the kid will suffer a burn out. Might be worth while to have a good chat with your child to find out what are the difficulties that he faced for the subjects, rather than just piling him with tuition.

I have a friend who send her kids to all kinds of tuitions classes. Her poor kids are occupied with tuitions even during school holidays. She spends $1k + mthly on tuitions. She is not well off, just average.

In the end, her elder kid did not do well for his studies and she was so miserable.

Her younger kid also struggles with studies but I heard the effort pay off for this younger kid as she got a trophy last year as she tops in class.

I think it's a bit too much. Maybe can target the really weak ones, not sure how much he can take when it gets to P6 when there are more school work/project. 😢

What would be better (on both the child and the parents) would be to only let the children have tuition when they don’t understand a certain topic.

Then just have individual tuition until the child understands that particular topic and stop it after that.

Most of the time, having so much tuition would just be a waste of money and children may get overly stressed out for no reason.

Let the children try to study by themselves first and, in the process, let them be more independent.

If not, when they get to higher levels of education, you can’t possibly expect them to have tuition for every single subject.

Also, like the saying goes: "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

Too much tuition would cause your child’s social life to be almost non-existant, denying them the chance to improve the necessary social skills.

We wouldn’t want them to turn out to be anti-social bookworms right?

Anyone have any good tution teacher to recommend. Need one that can teach EMS. More of to provide guidance to areas of difficulties. My son is now P4 and I’m staying at the East area.

Just two-cents worth of my opinions,

I’m a p6 girl taking my PSLE this year.

Im taking EMS and Maths Strategies classes at my tuition centre, 3 days per week.

                      Mon-Eng and Maths Strategies
                      Tues-Maths
                      Fri-Science

After exams,I will not have tuition for two weeks as my tuition centre wants to give us a break, however that means i will have to replace 8 lessons before the break so that means juggling up to 8 lessons per week and 16 lessons for two weeks.(if you get what i mean…)

However,I do not feel stressed or whatsoever.I feel that tuition is all dependant on the tutor and tutee. If the tutor is one that engages the class along the lessons, but the tutee is not interested, there is no point at all.

I’m speaking from a student’s perspective, and I do enjoy my classes alot as I’m fortunate enough to have a tutor that is fun and engaging and will explain until you get it.

Too much of tuition in one day, especially if that’s the child’s weak subject(s), might really seem too much for a child to take.
