All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Hi, Floppy.
Thanks for your reply. The problem now is that PRPS is the only school within 1 km. White Sand Pri and Elias Park is within 1-2 km… Headache now… Will the school take the distance into consideration when they select the PV candidates?
DH and I are not interested in other schools in Pasir Ris.
Thanks. -

Pragmatism necessitate that you apply to the three schools that you are interested in and hope that at least one call you up. If you failed to secure the PV slot, you will have to plan how to tackle Phase 2C accordingly (historically, Elias Park is quite safe < 2km in Phase 2C).Hi, Floppy.

Hi Floppy,
I agree with your analysis and strategies suggested. I didn't expect that it is not so easy to get in to just neighbourhood schools thru PV scheme as both PRPS & White sand Pri are not even those elite schools like NYPS. I just want a school nearest to my house....
Thanks anyway. :xedfingers: -

Hi Jeya...not sure why you posted your question in this thread about PV?? A better thread would be this general P1 registration thread for your child's year:
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum ... =5&t=69055
Anyway, based on the balloting history for the schools in Queenstown area (see http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/queenstown), SPR would have zero chance at Fairfield Primary under 2B, regardless of distance.
You have 2 choices near your house under 2C, i.e. New Town Primary (<1km) and Queenstown Primary (1-2km), both are very safe for SPR. Hope that info is useful for you. -
Hi parents,
Am newbie here. Want to apply PV for DS for 2018 P1. Becoz I am a sahm still need to take care a 2yo at home. If I apply for PV, when the school call u up for event, will they give you the schedule in advance so that u can plan and arrange for somebody to take care my 2yo? Or it will be last minute call up? I am just wondering if I can apply for PV for my situation. Thanks! -

Going to P1 In 2018? Which means your DS is 5 years old this year ?Hi parents,

You are likely too late for most school. Application is during the year your kid turn 4 years old. Call up the school you are interested to find out if you are still in time to apply. At the same you can ask about your questions.
It normally depends on your PV task, most of the time the schedule is known before hand. There are last min task as well. The problem is whether the school has enough task to go around. Normally once email is out we just grab the job immediately and worry about whether you can do it or not later. Jobs are taken up super fast. This is for the school I PVed, it could vary from school to school. It could be also a job where you can do at home at your own time like making a poster for the school. So just call and ask the school you will get the most accurate answer. -
Thanks aloyboy for ur info.
Oh is it too late? As I called last year to hips, the school told me to call back next year which is this year, so I thougt most school shld be start application this year. Oops! -

I don't think it's too late. Registration for Phase 2B 2018 will be in July 2017 so you should still be able to do PV this year. You should check with the school again just to be sure. Thanks aloyboy for ur info.
