I use a steamer too to save time, space and my back. Since my DH isn't fussy about me getting his shirts looking starched and crisp, I just chin chye steam to make it look presentable. After all, when he puts it on, it wrinkles anyway. The tough part is the hem so for shirts that he tucks in, I bochap. For shirts that he doesn't tuck in, I use an ironing mitt. I got it at Daiso ($2). It's actually meant for people who just want to iron one item quickly but vertically, example, when the garment is hung on a hanger from the door handle of the wardrobe. It has a thick pad that reflects heat on one side and the other side is a net for you to slip your hand into. I use this for straightening hems. The easiest way to prevent such wrinkles is to fling the clothes out and use your fingers to pull and shape immediately after a wash.


As for my own clothes, I tend to choose clothes that don't really need ironing or steaming.

Hi, schellen, can I check w you after steaming, will the shirt really look very straight (like we also saw at the shopping mall). Because no matter how many times I try, it still not straight when you look at it very near!

Hi! I am also contemplating to get a garment steamer because I have part time helper that comes in only once a week and sometimes I need to iron a piece or 2 in between her visits. Anyone can recommend a cheap and reasonably good one? I think probably a compact steamer that can be use for travelling will do.

Like I saidbefore, my steaming is very chin chye one so definitely can see wrinkles. I dunno how the so-called professionals do it. Maybe can ask the sales staff or the brand you bought from whether there are any lessons or workshops? After all, when we buy ovens and cookers, they usually have complimentary workshops.
