My Chinese very poor, I don't quite understand the notice on no more TingXie for P2. Changed to quiz, game like ah-hoc testing on their understanding ? How does it work ? If a kid is poor in Chinese, how would this method help them ? Is other level/school also doing this ? How should I help my kid to prepare for these \"test\" ?
I thk the words or hypy they need to know is at the text book ` i can read` or i can write portion. I have a p5 in another sch, strictly the most conventional tingxie n moxie. -

In my Pri school(not PCPS), even though the girls do argue a lot, they don't go to the extremes like the boys. Like calling names like B*tch, stupid, in front of the teacher! The girls however, settle whatever argument they have during others times like perhaps recess. In your case, saying that it shld be 1:1 is just unfair, that is if one gender is more well behaved than the other. I do agree that some girls in my school do not deserve to be a prefect, but it's the same for the boys. One case was the head prefect for my year. He was well behaved in front of the teacher, but just scolds me for no reason, unless you consider reporting pupils who call me names to the teacher a reason.Gender Discrimination in School
First week of school is always filled with excitement as students look forward to take up the various new roles in school. New P4 student ambassadors/ prefects are appointed.
In one class, 5 out of 6 appointed are girls. In another, 4 out of 5 are girls.
My question is, why the discrimination against boys or favoritism over girls? Even in team leaders role, majority chosen are girls! Why?? In a co-ed school, shouldn’t both gender be given an equal opportunity? If there are 6 prefects in a class, there should be 3 boys and 3 girls? No?
Is the school trying to imply that boys are not good enough? I know my son is mischievous and too lazy so he will never qualify, how about the other boys in his class or other classes? I do not believe all are bad or naughty! I really wonder how the selection was made and I definitely do not think this is the direction of MOE to give preferential treatment to the opposite gender.
When son commented all teachers prefer girls to boys, my answer is because girls are more well-behaved and produce quality work. However, he giggled and replied “Mum, you should watch how those girls screamed, yelled and quarreled with their friends during recess, you will know if they are really well-behaved. It is only that boys do not act ‘good boy’ in front of the teachers...” Ok, that sounds like our little ‘mei mei’, I told him.
I am not an unreasonable parent. I only hope the school treat all students equally, be fair, regardless of gender. Give the boys an equal opportunity to take up leadership roles. At a tender age, I am sure boys too, can be groomed and nurtured to be good leaders of tomorrow. In our parliament, isn’t approximately 75% of the seats taken up by man?!
Anyway, I will monitor and make sure MOE intervene if discrimination continue to persist in this school! This is totally uncalled for.

This article sums it all up as this is exactly what is happening in this school. http://atlantablackstar.com/2013/02/12/ ... n-schools/
In terms of name callings and unacceptable behavior in front of teachers, I do not think it is an issue in this school. Maybe this attributes to the rich Chinese culture and the teaching of Di Zi Gui? So far, most pupils that I met in the school have very good mannerism so discipline wise, it is pretty much top-notch. -
Hi Parents,
I am an alumni of PCPS. I intend to enroll my boy into PCPS for Pri 1 very soon. I have a question and hope someone here can help me with it.
I heard from my colleague that his son, who's now in Nan Hua Pri School, has to take on Higher Chinese (compulsory) when he entered Primary one. For him, it is not a choice. :yikes:
May I know if this is the case for PCPS ? Last time, during my days, HCL was optional. Not too sure about this today. I do not wish my boy to take up HCL as it will be very tough for him and I don't wish to kill his interest for mother tongue. Thank you.
