i'm intending to send my 6 year old dd to ballet but would like advice on the following sch/options :

          - Crestar
          - The Ballet & Music Company
          - in community clubs

How do they compare in terms of the right technique & skills of the teachers?

Gee, if i do sprout some silly questions, pls forgive me

I think alot of it boils down to the teacher who’ll take the class. Crestar has some good, experienced teachers. In CCs, there are different ballet schools who take the class depending on area. I know Dancepointe operates at Jurong and Taman Jurong as well as Sengakang. They have quite a few good teachers when I use to play for them.

As for Ballet and Music Co, I’ve heard rather negative feedback, but I’m in no position to comment since I’ve not worked with them before.

              Hi,

My DD is learning pre primary ballet at The Ballet School which conducts lessons at various CC. She started off at 3 yrs 4 months old at Buona Vista CC and has been with the teacher for one term. of 8 lessons. She is now at 2nd term. She far I find the teacher good. My DD enjoys so much and looked fwd to attend her lessons. She has improved in her ballet steps and exercise except for the skipping exercise which is common problem at her age.

Btw anyone here planning to send their girls to SBA?

Hi jce, thanks for the info.. as for the negative feedback on ballet & music, would you be able to share? am really clueless in this area & i would be bringing my gal to the centre at Lot1 to have a view tomorrow. if it's not a reputable one, i don't think i want to wish time & $ in the centre.

hi lwhjoyce, i have checked on the cc near my place.. however, it is conducted by a teacher who has a diploma in dance from La-Salle & she only holds a Ballet Teachers' Certificate - seems she's doing freelance & not from any ballet centre. i would like to start off on the right note & tat's y i'm still deliberating which centre i shld sent to.. can only look at CCK area as time & distance is a concern to me.

From what I’ve HEARD, seems that there’s frequent change of teachers, and the front desk not very helpful.

Understand totally... so far I find my girl attending at BVCC is quite good loh. The teacher teaches at other center near west area..you may check it out at her website http://www.theballetschool.com.sg/ if her location is near yr place...

Both of my girls attend NAFA. My P6 girl has been going there since she was 4. We’ve been very happy with the teachers.
