OT: does the current JC or U education adequately prep one to enter the workforce?

Based on newspaper articles of undergraduate on their internships, the current education system seems adequate.

For JC, I do not think it is as adequate as the education system for polytechnics. Thus I rarely encounter any friend's DC who will join the workforce after obtaining his A level cert. Majority will proceed to local uni and if not eligible at all or not eligible for his choice course, will proceed to local or overseas private uni for further studies. Some who fail to obtain the A level cert may retake the exam, join the local polys (at second year if his qualification allows) or private schools that will lead to diploma or degree level.

I have a question: If for some reasons, a student who sits for this year's A levels need to retake next year, will he be caught in the new syllabus? I understand that when moe revised its o level english a few years ago, those who repeated were allowed to sit for the old syllabus of eng O level exam.

What are 3 year degree courses available for A level pass student having following subject combination.

          - Eng Lit-H2
          -Eng Language & Lingisitc-H2
          -Economics-H1
          -MAths-H2

Some of the Faculty of science in NUS are also 3 year courses … similar one for my DD who is humanity student.
It seems we need to get Uni education out of way quickly whether it is used for subsequent employment doesn’t matter… just get some degree first.

Result are in 2 weeks time & i need some help

Most courses in FASS. Biz Ad should be 3 years too I think. But why the hurry to get a degree in 3 years vs 4 years? Isn't it more important to pursue something that your dd is interested in and would find useful in a future job?

All FASS are 4 years… Biz and Accoutancy also 4 years

What she is interested in pursuing is too risky and ultimately may not be something she has in it her…that’s what we parent feel. Degree is to fall back on later in life , if passion deosn’t workout

So agreement is get a degree and then pursue education in what she is interested in immediately after … Not too old by then, hence 3 years degree course… Also part of agreement is no need to work post graduation

According to the NUS website, BA courses usually take 3 years. It's 4 years if you choose to take the Honours year:

                http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/prospective/u ... q.html#one

I heard that FASS is a 4-year programme. Is it true?

Students admitted into the FASS can decide if they wish to pursue the Bachelor's or Honours programme. A Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree usually takes 3 years to complete, while the Honours degree will take an additional year.

I think it's the same with a Biz Ad degree - 4 years if you do honours.

Honours year only to be decided at the end of year 3 - if eligible by grades

FASS is 3 yrs for a general degree, I thought? Not everyone does honours.
