Thanks jet setter for the adviceangeltngthan:
Planning a trip with 3.5yo and 1yo in Jan 2017 my son is interested in trains so want to bring him to Japan for about 7-9days.
It will be our first trip to Japan and intend to go the following places:
Disneyland and Disneysea
Imperial Palace
Nissan noodle museum
Fish market
Any other places to recommend? My hubby is into watch so might want to drop by shop to see if he could get a seiko from there as a keepsake. Any hotel to recommend? Planning to fly by Sq but hubby worry about the number of luggage so that we need to carry around.
Any advice on the luggages? If taxi from haneda will cost a lot? How about the returning to Narita airport? I foresee the luggages will be heavier for the return trip.
As Dnls_mum has advised, you might want to visit Tsukiji from 9am onwards.
Btw, you read about their relocation to Disney area Tokyo Bay this November, so you will definitely go to the NEW Tsukiji Market, not the downtown one.

I'm sure the new one will have the same motorised trolleys or forklifts zipping around speedily. The clobbering of blue fin tuna might send ice, water, guts and blood flying all over...(a bit exaggerated lah!). Basically you get organised chaos in there when the tuna auction starts. And the floor might be wet.
If you're thinking of the 5+am inner market tours, then forget it. You must be there by 3am and wait in the holding room for 2+ hrs. Very packed with tourists, very boring and pretty cold in winter. That's the old system; not sure how's the layout of the new Tsukiji...
The current inner mkt is open to the public from 9am. Outer mkts will be crowded with tour groups and sushi lovers from 7am-9am, but you should be able to savour some fresh seafood/sashimi from 9-10.30am still. Anything beyond 11am, please go home. Queues at the current Tsukiji mkt can be horrendously long during holiday seasons. Am not sure if it's less crowded after they relocate to Tokyo Bay. Just be prepared to queue with your stroller, or baby carrier in the cold in January 2017! -

I had tried searching for hotel in Jan but the rooms seem booked as of now.

Not to see the morning action but to have some sushi or sashimi instead[/quote]that is what we did last week..go there 9++ just to eat lolz
You sure you want to bring your young kids to Tsukiji? It is quite dangerous with lots of motorized buggies moving around. So if u really wanna go with young kids, I suggest just stick to the outer area where the restaurants are located.Dnls_mum:

If you don't want to carry luggages around, use luggage transfer service.
Taxi fare from Haneda to Tokyo depends on where you plan to go, which part of Tokyo. I paid about ¥5000 plus from Haneda to Tokyo Station around late afternoon. -
Ptb7476,
Same, want to bring the kids to experience the eatery and have sushi ourselves. Do they serve chawamushi? -
angeltngthan:
some do but based on what i observed they more likely to serve tamago than chawamushi so you need to choose your eatery wisely cos most of them quite long queuePtb7476,

I am thinking of staying at Chiba area and driving to Mother Farm. Is it worth the cost to do that for a day? What are the recommmended car rental co and where should we collect and return the car?
For eg if we stay at Hilton Tokyo Bay, will it be near to Takashimaya there? -
If i should just go Disneyland only and wait till the kids are older to go Disneysea? What is your advice?
