Daisyt, your story is very inspirational indeed but the strange thing is the whole nation has to lose to sore losers by changing the competitive landscape.

emmm....that is one issue but it will definitely prevent a 'certain group of non-singaporean' from dominating the top psle scores.. πŸ˜‰ sorry very sensitive issue... 😐

        definitely prevent? why so sure?
Even scrap CL, those top talents can still manage to remain top....

I remember DD scored 66 in P4 CL SA1 and oral test 12/20 last year. Immediately we realized that we had neglected the CL during these years. To help her, we started communicate in Mandarin and exposed her to more Chinese show and songs. I also bought her a lot of β€œThe Little White Dragon”. As a result, her SA2 went up to 81 and the oral test also improved to 18/20. Therefore I would think there is always a solution to resolve the problem instead of give up.

Pardon my ignorance, was CL weightage raised before to the current 25% (if 25% is correct). Then what was the rationale at that time to raise its weightage? Now MOE wanted to lower it, a bit face-slapping?

to sum it up, the proposal to reduce weightage for MT for PSLE t-score because of some who cannot master the language is just an escapist mentality

Perhaps MOE only receives complaints and not realize there might be far more CL-supporters.....

My child is not going to lose out if we persist what we think is good for her. Same to you with your children and others too. πŸ˜„

i would say it is more than mere \"supporters\" for reason of expediency

it is a whole mind set of preserving your roots, identity, and culture; hence the need to be an overcomer to master the language, not to run away from it

In the example of Jim Roger who wanted his kids to have chinese education and sent them to NYPS and he immigrated to live in Singapore to do that.

Now Happy's mother tongue is English ...... so how do u lower the standard for her ? Ooops, she is here to study Chinese but we are lowering it ..... won't he feel \"cheated\" by the changing target ? \"wth, why do i come to singapore for ?\"
think Jim Roger's DD1 is in NYPS, and DD2 is K1 now. he might send DD2 to China....hehe... or he might migrate whole family to china .......

he must be very disappointed now....and might b busy emailing to MOE.....

PRCs will still remain TOP even without CL
