I find that at home, I am able to draft emails better, plan & design slides for presentation better, think & plan activities better etc.
In ofc, I can't do such bec there are always pple walking around, even if they dont talk to me, they talk to my colleagues and I can get distracted.
I can do ofc work, while preparing a meal or even vacuum my home.
Earplugs or headphones? I've been thinking about getting some, but it can seema bit rude, I think. The guy on the other side of the partition from me has a very loud voice, and is on the phone a lot!

I also can't work well in an environment that has people sound. Too used to work in a totally quiet home.

I think this is my weak pt; so sometimes I hv to bring ofc work home to settle bec in ofc, I can’t shut distractions.

Some colleagues just broadcast their personal matters on the phones; at times, rather interesting!

I think a better solution would be to tell him discreetly and politely rather than to wear ear phones.

Another colleague who knows him better has told him many times, very directly, that his voice is really loud. But he just naturally has a loud voice. He will try to tone down, but it doesn't last more than 1 sentence!

Same here. I have difficulty shutting out \"human voices\", irregular tapping noises and all sorts of notification (handphone, door bells, buzzer, micro wave, alarm clock etc). No problem with machines humming though. sometimes Bo bian but have to listen to other people's conversation. What to do, I just can't shut them off.

My most productive days would be days where there are almost nobody in the office. πŸ•Ί however, this mostly happen only on non-working days. :gloomy:

But it seems to be acceptable in my office. I might try it one day.

Somehow I can still do ppt decks, reports, papers, emails amid high decibels. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I can auto-shut my ears from chatterboxes' loud jokes and laughter, ongoing phone calls, human beings walking around... πŸ˜‰

In fact, I can do my office work in a noisy food court, or fast food restaurant whilst waiting for ds to finish his enrichment. I can do it on the plane and on the train too. I can even do it when I'm on holiday, in my hotel room with family members milling around me and tv on. But I cannot do it when I'm wearing ear phones. I dunno why!

I suppose every working person must learn to concentrate as far as possible, since contemporary office configurations are now open-concept. Gone are the days when superiors sit in a big room, due to escalating office rental in CBD. Even if you have an office to yourself, the door must remain opened to show you're approachable to walk-in consultations. Middle-mgt will probably have more private corners in the last row by the windows, but still, it's all low partitions and you will have to tolerate chatterboxes anyhow.

Bringing work home must be the last resort.

I can work at noisy environment and did my revisions during my schooling time while listening to songs. Now I know one thing that is difficult for me to concentrate is to have a kid beside me calling me with her hand holding and shaking my hand. Need to turn around and scold.
