Dolce Tokyo (3rd floor at Bugis Junction) or Miam Miam (2nd Floor at Bugis Junction) are pretty lively and quiet (can talk), both set lunch are simple and not expensive. I prefer Dolce Tokyo better.

Thanks, but I forgot to mention that we try to avoid dairy (and spicy food too).

Still trying to find out what the restaurants outside Intercontinental are. Anyone?

There used to be a Fish and Co outside Intercontinental, alongside with Nandos, TCC. I believe Nandos and TCC are still there but Fish and Co has moved to level 4 on Bugis +.

Bugis+ is just across the road and there are many food choices. Level one of Bugis+ tend to be more crowded. On weekdays lunchtime, upper levels in Bugis+ is fairly quiet. Perhaps you can check out the website:

            For Bugis plus http://www.bugisplus.com.sg/en/tenants/dining/

            For Bugis Junction http://www.bugisjunction-mall.com.sg/en/tenants/dining/

            Hope that helps.

Jack’s Place at Bras Basah? I find it more conducive for eating and chatting …

Ramen Champion is very salty and oily. I tried a few stalls already but can hardly remember their names 😞 One gave us too much tao geh.

Bring your boy to try Santouka (Central), Sanpoutei (B1 Isetan Scotts) or Ippudo (a few outlets). 😉
