I followed the forum, DSA 2015, the girls who attended the session with the P, with drinks and burgers, they played games and also need to answer a few questions, not typical type of interview, but questions to let the girls express their views or thoughts, which is usual.

For example, CHS partners with Eunoia JC for her IP programme, however, the 'O' level track students from CHS do not get the 2 bonus points for affiliation if they are applying to Eunoia JC.

I was not talking about rejection. I was talking about the reason of rejection.
for nygh to shortlist a girl for an interview, yet not seriously interview her but to ask the girl to eat burger and play games. Then, reject the girl. Is this acceptable? And the reason is \"diversity\"? is this a school selecting a student? it is more like a king selecting a \"concubine\" in the past. Ha ha....

My point is, if nygh is not even interested in the girl, don waste their time. Reject them directly. Don waste the burger, they can go some other place to eat burger....

But you will never know until you meet the student

I knew that student. she was also Character Award winner from the primary school. I knew her personally. We felt for this. Nygh shd give a clearer explanation for that girl. Not use \"Diversity\" to cover up the reason behind their decision which they are not willing to be honest about it.

If they don want too many students from the same sxhool, then, should state so before everyone start to apply.[/quote]Top girl in pri sch or receiving ECHA etc etc doesn't mean the girl is a sure CO candidate. Many factors come into play esp during the interview.

You know but nygh does not know

Every school has their own standard for whatever award they want to give. Not every school has character award also. Same for top student - every school is different standard until they are ranked by T-score

Everything was submited to nygh, if nygh does not know? Then, is worst, on what basis are they choosing their student? Randomly? Relationship? Who know who? WhiCH primary school they were from?.....

If nygh suspect her ability? Why nygh did not give her test? Is this fair?

For her, no test, invited for tea and eat burger... ask casual question.... then, rejection.

And that girl is applying through academic route.
Who still think nygh is logical? Justifiable to reject her based on what they have done?

Pirated, she eventually scored above 275. good luck to you, if you still think nygh is right.

DSA is discretionary, so we have to accept that schools have the freedom to make their own decisions, whether or not we agree with them. I think that quite a lot can be discerned through casual meetings over burgers and games. Even if we disagree with the school's decision, the fact is that it is at their discretion. We can simply avoid such selection events in future, but I have heard that some universities and organisations now have non-standard type of selections events too where candidates are observed in other settings and activities, not just tests and formal interviews.

Top acad student in A sch, top all-rounder student, top PSLE scorer does not equate to good performance in dsa burger + drink session (or other sch nterviews). Unless u are present in the burger + drink session & personally witness how outstanding the girl has performed vs others in same grp who receive CO, only then u have a valid stand to challenge the school's decision.

Believe it or not, sometimes things happen for a reason.

Same goes to Edusave Character Award selection.

‘demonstrating exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behaviour and actions.’
‘awards are given to a maximum of 2% of Singaporean students in each school at the end of the year.’

Is up to the school teachers to select the 2%. Those who were not awarded didn’t mean they do not have
exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities. For some unknown reasons Student A is chosen instead of Student B

There’s some X factor that the teachers must have identified and select the students.
