Hi there!
Any parents with kids in music programme? I am a parent of a P6 student.
Would like to find out what is the standard of intake like (eg need abrsm grade x in theory, grade x in practical).
Any other info like difference between MEP syllabus vs NJC music programme (or are they the same?), lessons conducted during curriculum time? Get in through DSA or PSLE posting? Etc.
Thanks so much in advance! -

Please share if you know anything about AEP Programme offering here. How good is it and how should a child prepare for AEP Programme. Thank you.

Hello
My daughter is in P6 this year. She is applying for SOTA DSA as she is interested in visual arts. In case she does not get in SOTA I was thinking of NJC as second choice for DSA as they have AEP for visual arts here . I would like to ask the students or parents of students of NJC some more information about this program.
1>Do the students have to do other CCA as well if they have taken AEP?
2>is the DSA procedure very competitive? My daughter has got very good results for academics in p4 and p5 but has not participated in external competitions as maths olympiad etc. -
Shaansan:
1. Yes, AEP is not a CCA. It is an academic programme (just like accelerated Math, MEP, etc.), so students taking AEP are still required to participate in at least one CCA. By the way, NJC has an awesome AEP programme.Hello

2. DSA in NJC is very straightforward. The child must first go through the first round of selection tests, which include Math and English. If he/she is shortlisted, then he/she will be invited for a second round, which could be an interview and/or a team-based activity (it may vary from year to year). Not sure about the actual acceptance/offer rate, should be pretty competitive, maybe 10-20% success rate? -
Thanks for your reply mommyng. Will it be too stressful to do both CCA as well as AEP? How should i help my daughter prepare for the DSA?

Not really, especially if your dd has passion in it. Mine is enjoying herself a lot
But it does take a bit of time (extra 3 hours a week), so if your dd has a lot of other commitments, then she may have to juggle a bit.
I don't think your dd really need to prepare for the DSA. Just be herself and do her best!
All the best to her! -
Would like to ask for y1, kids go through all ccas then decide which one to choose at y2? Tia.
