How do most boys fare in the O Level HMT exams, specifically for Higher Chinese? The school recommends at least a C6. Any idea what is the average?
I heard there are combined tests between RI and RGS in Year 4. May I know whether the tests are CAs or MYCTs?

Yup they juz had the 3 subjects i.e Maths, eng & chem and they are CAs. But i heard the weightage is more in Rgs than in Ri.. & Rgs gals tend to score better than Ri boys.. 😞

That's not what RGS teachers tell the girls! My daughter was told that RI boys do far better in Maths and Chem, but the girls do better in English. No facts or numbers to back up any of this as it's all very hush-hush. Anyway, it doesn't really matter, right? It doesn't impact their subject choice at Yr5, and students are not compared across the 2 schools at Yr4. I would think it's more for the teachers to calibrate their teaching and marking, and for the Yr5 teachers to take into account gaps they might need to fill.

No idea about the weightage in RGS. I don't pay attention to these details as my daughter keeps track of it herself.
It does affect the students' Yr-3 & 4 overall GPA though.

In the top Yr-5 classes, all RGS gals scored 4.0 (for Yr-3 & 4) while most RI boys scored 3.85-3.95. Indeed, more RGS gals scored 4.0 for Year-3 & 4, than RI boys.

The 2 schools do exchange exam papers (besides the 3 common ones). RGS gals tend to find RI exam papers more difficult (as shared by DS' classmates & friends from RGS), while RI boys tend to find RGS exam papers more manageable (as shared by DS & his friends from RI).

It doesn't really matter, as what slmkhoo mentioned. It doesn't impact the students' subject choices at Yr-5 and students are not compared across the 2 schools at Yr-4. Just sharing what I've learnt from the boys & gals from the 2 schools.

Hey tats wat i heard too frm my boy who hv some mutual frens in Rgs. He was saying the papers in Rgs is manageable & its not that he is not good enuf… Haha… I beg to be diff frm wat he thinks cos i believe my boy has tat kinda of ‘relax’ attitude when it comes to exam… But he sure did put in effort to strive for the best like all other boys…

I met wif one of the teachers in Rgs during the PTM saying that RI has more of a vigorous kinda of learning compared to Rgs which is more holistic. Not too sure how true tis is…But i believe gals matured faster than boys & will take the exam very seriously…i must say its true to a certain extent as my gal scored better than my boy…And u can hear them saying their sch is tougher than the other… Hmmm positive competition i must say…lol

Go through papers first, then got many miscellaneous things for gap sem: meeting teacher mentors, going for sessions on how to make the most out of their gap sem experience.

Thank you, RafflesianSnr. I guess there will be no time for family holiday.
