      SOS mum:

      (1) I will complete my homework no matter how tired I might be.

Regardless of my tiredness, I will complete my homework
      Is the above acceptable?
      Answer sheet stated:
Regardless of how tired I might be, I will complete my homework.

Yes, ‘regardless of’ is a preposition and so should be followed by a noun, noun phrase or a noun clause.

‘my tiredness’ is a noun phrase.

‘how tired I might be’ is a noun clause.
      SOS mum:
(2)Although the shoes were too tight for him,he wore them because he was in a rush.
The shoes were too tight for him; however he wore them because he was in a rush.
Must we put a comma after however?

      Yes.

      Thank you very much :lovesite:

When to put comma before \"but\"?

From: P6 Marshall Cavendish Synthesis ...
You have to be careful when you say 'before \"but\"'.

There is a difference between 'but' as a coordinating conjunction joining two independent clauses, in which case you usually need a comma, and 'but' as part of the correlative pair 'not only ... but also', in which case you do not have a comma.

Think of the correlative pair 'either...or'. Would you use a comma to separate the two parts? No.

Marshall Cavendish and most guide books I have found in Singapore do not draw this distinction. It is for you to speculate why they don't.

              Acceptable.

In the example you are using, there is no difference.

On Q25. How come answer is "operation" and not "action"?

So while this skill may come simply and (24) naturally to good readers, it is actually a two or three-step (25) process and struggling readers may trip up on one of those steps.

                    Thanks!

'Both' is plural so the verb 'belong' is plural.

Yes. 'Upon' is a preposition and should be followed by a noun or noun equivalent. 'Hearing' is being used as a gerund, so is a noun equivalent.
