but dragon year babies are getting lesser.janet88:
So the Tiger year is still comparatively one of the least competitive years for P1 Registration. Things will be picking up next year, and of course, the following Dragon year babies in 2018! -
Hello,
I would like to ask a question.
Before I make a decision whether to go ahead to register my child for Phase 2B in a popular school, how will I know
a) the total number of applicants,
b) the number of SCs and PRs and
c) the number of applicants for each category for home-school distance (ie no of applicants living less than 1km, no of applicants living btw 1-2km to the school etc)?
Will the above information be put up in the schools after the end of the first day of registration
so that I can make a decision whether to go ahead to register my child in that school on the second day of registration.
Would appreciate a reply if you know the answers to the above or any advice. Thank you. -

You may check MOE website for number of registration at end of each day. However there might not be any information about SC or PRs, and home-school distance, available online. You may check with the school directly for details. Good luck! -

Most schools will have a physical whiteboard showing the breakdown at the registration area. Usually updated at the end of the morning session, and at the end of the afternoon session. You have to go down to the school to see. Otherwise you can try to phone the general office but depending on their mood, they may or may not answer you.Hello,

MOE website updated every evening does NOT show the breakdown. Only the total numbers. Goodness knows why in this electronic era they are still so \"dinosaur\"...but that's the reality for this year. Best is go down to check if u can. Good luck for your phase! -

Just for my curiosity, how many choices are you eligible for in P2B, besides this popular school?Hello,

If you are an SC, you don't have to worry about PRs at all in any Phase. Their presence will not affect your chance of getting the place in the school.Hello,

MOE will only post the top-line figure of the number of registrants in each school at the end of the each day of the Registration Phase. There will be no break down in terms of the number of parents within 1km, <2km or >2km, nor the number of SCs vs PRs. Some schools may make this information public to registrants via updates on blackboards around the registration areas, but this is not a fixed practice. However, most will inform you at the point of registration (or later) if you have no chance of success, so that you can withdraw to try another school. -

I was wondering if the schools would help guide parents on their chances so that they can try elsewhere. This helps!
