28 students registered under 2A2 for ACS(P), but only 7 seats are available. Therefore, is it confirmed that 2A2 will have balloting? Is it rare in the recent years?

      Thanks!

Definition of acs old boys. First we call it Acps not acps. Coleman/Armenian street. Our lunch at Burger King peninsula. PE at fort canning. After school no homework and run to river valley swimming pool. Play chatek during recess. That's old boys.

And MPH down the street. However, that's just old boys from ACPS . šŸ˜„

The JS boys will have different stories, I'm sure.

On a more related note, looks it's balloting for 2A2 for ACS(P).....

It has never happened before. Last year SNGS made history for being the 1st school to have balloting at Phase 2A1. This year ASCP has made history for being oversubscribed 4 times at Phase 2A2.

Whether or not there will be balloting this Friday, depends on whether there were more than 7 SCs within 1km. Only the school knows for now. MOE website is still not updated yet. Guess they are waiting for final calculations from the school...

Yes, within these 28 applicants, for balloting, they will check how many are SC, how many are PR ?

Within the SC, they will check :
How many reside within 1 km, how many within (1 to 2 km), how many outside 2 km ?

Usually, SC within 1 km are spared from balloting, unless out of 28, happen that more than 7 SC are already within 1 km, in which case balloting for SC within 1 km will take place : and the rest (SC outside 1 km and all PR, no need to ballot)

          Or

If suppose out of 28 : only 7 SC are within 1 km, the rest are outside 1 km, then no need to ballot, because the 7 SC within 1 km, just fit into the 7 remaining vacancies, nicely.

If you are one of the 28, can contact school now, find out who are involved in balloting ?

Important thing now for school, is to count how many SC, are within each distance range. Tomorrow Fri is balloting day, for all schools, for Phase 2A(2)

You are right. This year of Tiger, ACS (Primary) made history at Phase 2A(2). Rare some more, as it is year of Tiger

If really need to ballot, then ratio is 4 : 1 (28 divide by remaining 7 vac)
Means out of every 4 kids, only 1 can get in
The others who got balloted out : got to goto other neighbourhood schools, to study

Every primary school, fall into a neighbourhood

Thanks very much for the detailed information.

If, out of the 28 students who have registered with ACSP under phase 2A2, there are 10 students who are (a) SCs; and (b) live within 1km from ACSP, then balloting will take place to fight the 7 seats. My question is, for the 3 boys who failed to get seats from the balloting this Friday, can they go to register under phase 2C later on, to compete with those SCs who live within 1km but not old boys?

May I know, what do you mean by preparing a backup school?

My son will register for P1 in 2017 for 2018 intake. He is SC. We will move into a place which is within 1km from ACSP, because between ACSP and ACSJ, we prefer ACSP.

On second thought, should we move into a place which is 1km from both ACSP and ACSJ, to play safe? Or it doesn't make any difference, since we can only register under phase 2C in one of the two schools.

Would be grateful for your advice. Many thanks!

ACS Junior would have more chance from history and this year.

But you still need to prepare a backup school as it's high chance that both ACS will go into balloting for SC <1km in Phase 2C.

Hi, may I know why you prefer ACSP? I did some research in the past and couldn't find much difference other than ACSJ is comparatively newer. Apart from that the syllabus and style are the same, so I heard.

Hi, I understand ACSP has the GEP while ACSJ does not have.

Another personal reason is because my husband studied in ACS Secondary (Barker road) last time.

FYI if your son gets into GEP at JS, he can transfer over to PS.

Both JS and PS are feeder schools to ACS at Barker Road so the difference is minimal. Unless your husband prefers going to Barker Road more which I can understand.

Just be mindful that JS has a larger intake and less alumni applicants historically which may be mean more vacancies for Phase 2C.

                        All the best either way
