Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, cotton buds, sanitary pads are the basics, esp so for those who does not want to have days off.

How often? When they are used up I suppose, which is not so often.

I provided toiletries when my maid first arrives in Singapore. Reason is because she does not have salary yet. My provision would approx. last her till when she gets her first full salary. She has to buy them for herself from then on. I prefer to give her bonus at year end from the money saved.

but do u ppl also give when they start earning their sal>?[/quote]By right not required as not stated in the contract but I tot just bless them since it is not a lot to give until my last maid ( one of those took my kindness for granted) commented at one of her emo days that her ex-employer even gave her calculator etc.... (she did apologise for being calculative and blind to my other kindness)

the reason i asked is because i provide toiletries to my maid, but i need to buy her everything every three weeks, because she finished the toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner etc. i buy her tolietries more often than mine.

think i will ask her to buy her own now that she's on full salary and has off days.

3 weeks is a really short time to use up the toothpaste etc! I think mine lasts for half a year or so! Do you think she’s sending some of these back home? I always wonder what they send home in those big boxes from time to time. Otherwise why they’re used up so fast? Another reason maybe since she doesn’t need to pay for them with her own money, she’s wasting a lot of them.

3 weeks is really very short for full-sized tolietries. For maids like these, it is better off for them to buy for themselves. A bit kind of taking things for granted for her.

My previous maids tolietries seems to last very long until I have to keep asking if they need to replenish.

3 weeks is way too short if she’s the only one using. Current maid was the same - less than 3 weeks for a tube of toothpaste and about the same for shampoo. Pls note that DH and I use the same type and size, and we take about 1.5 months or more to finish the toothpaste (2 persons hor, and we also brush twice a day).

When she first came, we provided, but after seeing how she used, we told her to get her own. Since then her toothpaste/shampoo miraculously lasts much longer.

AND. When she was first here, I told her to call back home (using my hp). Wahhh, that fella buey paiseh, talk and talk....like cannot end. Learnt my lesson - buy phone card.

First phone card I paid, she finished in one sitting (dunno how she called - it was when we weren't around). After that, we told her to get her own phone cards.

This kind cannot sustain :moneyflies: .
