Many SAP schools haven't been filled up yet as of 8pm last night, possibly cos they are smack right in the heart of mature estates or near nature reserves/reservoirs, unlike Punggol and SK.[/quote]Seems like your analysis is right on the money...just called up CHIJ OLQP , as of 5 pm only 1 registered. That make the vacancies still open as 67, from yesterday's 68.

While it is not an extremely popular choice among parents, there are some odd years where the school faces balloting. I suspect that the reason for it's \"unpopularity\" is geographical. The school has an extremely small natural catchment because <1km are mainly low density housing, and between 1km and 2km is a huge landmass that is inhabitable (i.e. MINDEF, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the reservoirs).floppy:

Maybe its due to the school leaders?[/quote]Springdale and Sengkang Green serve different catchment area. Those who are within 1 km of Springdale will most likely be within 1 km of Nan Chiau. Knowing that there is an ok new school which still have many spaces for Phase 2CS, they will be more likely to try their luck at Nan Chiau at Phase 2C.
It's just due to the number of young families living around the area. What I don't understand is why Sengkang Green is so much more popular than Springdale given that they were both new schools set up at the same time (2012).ChiefKiasu:

As for Sengkang Green, the other alternative within 1 km is likely to be Fernvale. I am not sure what is the problem with FernVale, but parents would rather give Sengkang Green a shot at Phase 2C. -
And frankly, I think there is not enough better schools in Sengkang and Punggol. Nan Chiau is not SAP, neither is it affiliated to Nan Chiau High. But it is so hot simply because it is the only better school in that area. Same for Sengkang Green.
