Does anyone know if the school will give priority to the child who was balloted out if he asks for transfer at end of P1? According to the numbers above, at least 3 people will be balloted out from each school, so unsure of how the priority will be if they are all wait-listed.

        zac's mum:
Both schools will be conducting balloting next Wed.

        Final numbers <1km:
        ACSP 24 vs 20 seats
        ACSJ 52 vs 49 seats
Hi zac's mum, thanks for the valuable information.
Can ask for ACSJ, why there are so many (65-52=13) applicants who are >1km, so got ZERO chance, but choose to stay?
Also we can see <1km applicants was already ~49 at ~3:30pm, so by right they should know they have no chance then already, and should use the final one hour to escape.

Is it because they don't have the latest information? (So still think they have hope)
Or because the withdraw/reapply takes time and even 1 hour is not enough?
Or because they are betting some <1km applicants will withdraw so they'll have chance?

        Thanks a lot!

Or because the withdraw/reapply takes time and even 1 hour is not enough? There was a couple who wanted to pull out at 4:15pm but was advised by the admin lady that they might not have sufficient time to apply at the next school hence they stayed. The 50th person only came in around 4:10pm. By then it would have been too late to withdraw and move somewhere else (given parents can't park at the compound).

What's interesting is the excess number (7) for ACSJ/ACSP would have easily consumed the balloting number at SJIJ (>2km). If the 7 has gone over to SJIJ, there might not be any balloting for the 3 schools.

It took us about 30 minutes to head out and complete the re-registration, even with smooth flowing traffic then.

Thanks for the info, believe your boy already secured a place in SJIJ.
Can ask, how long will withdrawal itself take? Will it need both parents to be present, or just 1 parent with both ICs?
As can 1 parent act as driver while the other to process withdrawal/reapply.

Hi, yes, that was what we did. The withdrawal and re-registration require all the original documents and both parents' ICs, but may be done by one person.

Withdrawal could take between 15-30 minutes depending on the network connection. I think 1 parent can withdraw while the other parent wait in the car as long as both NRICs are presented. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I did it last year.

While you plan your strategy, you may like to consider to stand by the side or make the move first then prepare to withdraw. Pros and Cons plus it depends on what priority you have.

ngpetert may likes to live on the edge.

What is logical to us in the aftermath or even as a bystanders during the registration process may or may not be clear to the applicants.

Some applicants only have 1 choice (distance). Some may only want to join this particular school and they will be on wait list. Some may not have consider anything.

When you see the numbers filling up, one may not be able to react as there isn't any back up plan in the first place.

Thanks all, can I consult fellow parents on another topic?

Both my wife and I are salaried employees, but we managed to afford a 3beds Newton condo.
I heard there are many rich kids in ACS, can ask is it suitable for us to send kids into ACS? e.g. When comparing to Pei Hwa?

The Pros for ACS in my eyes are: affiliated schools, strong alumni, more exposure other than academic
Pros for Pei Hwa is: better mix of students, better Chinese

                        Thanks all again.
