I am one of the parents who need to apply from 2Cs. Do any of you know about Peiying pri sch and Naval Base pri sch? I believe during 2Cs Jiemin and Yishun confirm exceeded and need to risk for balloting again.

If you want to avoid balloting at Jiemin & YPS, maybe you can consider AIP? I've been to the school for a visit last month and the environment gave me a good feeling. Their PERI upgrading will also be completed by end of this year or early next year. If you wish to pay a visit you may contact their PIC Ms Elsie 94317007.

If you don't mind to ballot then I still think Jiemin & YPS are better choices though. Historically PeiYing, AIP & Naval Base will have vacancies during phase 3.

As Lexy said, we also consider YPS too but their seat only 37 left. It may not be a good choice for us because it will risk for balloting again in phase 2Cs. We afraid we will be opt out again and go to Phase 3.

Anyone has any idea about Xishan? Really depressed and looking for some advice.

Yishun is becoming like Punggol where childcare centre and popular Primary School vacancies are filling up fast as new families moving into their new BTO flat.

Many parents make the same mistake by betting in a school with history of balloting but end up having to send their kid to a less popular faraway school which the child need to wake up early to take the school bus instead of just walk.
Many parents are in depression right now for the bad choice.

Last year Jiemin was fully taken up by 2C, this year the extra 24 sort of neutralise the drop of 20 places of YPS. Overall excess in the area increased by 21 applicants.

Jiemin should be more likely to be balloting, and since its 1-2km from your place, naturally YPS should be your first choice. Given the increase in the excess in the area, the potential YPS applicants could increase by 10% to 20% but the key here will be: are there 37 applicants who are within 1km.

Find out more on the AIP, Naval base, Peiying and Xishan, walk the ground and visit the school if you can and select your backup choice. All should not have balloting risk.

So monitor the number of YPS applicants within 1km and if it’s more than the vacancies, and if you want to avoid balloting then move to your backup choice. Since it’s a borderline case and YPS is within 1km from you, if I am you, I will apply to YPS on the first day, I will fill up the figures and let people know I am there (rather than sitting on the fence until 12 August afternoon). Sitting on the fence until 12 August afternoon is easier administratively but I think apply first increase the chance (just prepare for withdrawal if there is a need).

I agree with Lexy that Jiemin is more likely to go for balloting. The safer bet will be YPS. But if you still want to go for Jiemin, you can still register. Get ready to withdraw should applicants <1km exceeds the available seats.

On withdrawing, you need to be present in school and remember to get all your documents ready for the next choice. Hope you don't need to be force to withdraw. But seem like people can choose between jiemin and yps if they stay near to both.
