      ImMeeMee:
      Sun_2010:

Was stressed out from work yesterday, and DS was acting up a bit , arguing and justifying as we practised MT orals. Lost my temper and made a caustic remark. Tossed and turned the whole night as I brooded over it , nasty headache now but important work to complete. :frustrated:

Got a lecture from my dad and DH.
Sigh, it has been a emotional roller coaster week for me, someways the stress is getting to me, must relax and chill this week end.

Sun. I too have been uptight about DD1 MT oral. Such that sometimes I find myself becoming difficult with her and then feeling bad afterwards. I have been telling myself to take a step back and pace myself, but at that spur of the moment it still gets the better of me. Have to keep trying.

Sun and ImMeeMee I think MTL, especially Oral, is just so challenging that it gets all us parents going! We are only human so don't be so hard on yourselves. I always cut myself some slack! It has been a tough couple of weeks what with Prelims, the thought of upcoming PSLE Oral exams and for many, DSA interviews to contend with.

If we feel this way just imagine how the DCs feel. It's a lot of pressure for 11-12 year olds. Let's be kind to both ourselves and our DCs.
      :grphug:

We are all guilty of this sometimes especially when our DCs try to test our \"limited\" patience, I've had my fair share of shouting matches with my DS as well over his attitude, carelessness, etc...but I have learnt that as we near PSLE, it is more important to keep their mental health in tip-top condition, so that they go into the exam with a clear, confident mind.

Sounds easy? No, it is not, I've to internalize a lot of my own stress and expectation and not just to dump it on DS.....

It's a find line that we thread on...must make DC revise, but dun stress them to the point of break down.

school piles on paper after paper. it's very stressful for the kids.
i know she doesn't put in quality work for homework. but when i get her to revise, i expect complete answers, especially for science. when i mark, i underline the keywords and explain how marks are allocated.

Oh. On the opposite,DS sch hasn't much work to bring back even on weekends. So we have to \"DIY\" our own revision. And also rely on his tutor to help him with questions that we are 🤷 .

i get her to do either a mock paper from the assessment book or a past year paper for memory retention. it's about a month plus to go...hope she doesn't get burnt out.
