Plantar Fasciitis Treatment

Sniper Angel:
Anyone know any effective & fast treatment for Plantar Fasciitis ? :imcool: :imcool:
There is no effective treatment. Only stretching exercises consistently done, can't stop doing, else the pain will come back.
I have gone to Bt Batok polyclinic as they have podiatry department. First seen by the general doctor, then given another date appointment to see the podiatry physician at level 2.
Given a survey to track pain level, inconvenience to daily life, then seen by the physician, some simple examination, then taught a few stretching exercises.
A date for review given.
2nd visit, another set of exercises taught. Given a 6 months review date.
I find to avoid prolonged standing helps a lot too. -
I cured mine by seeing a podiatrist - I saw Dr Michael Lai first then followed up with Georgina at East Coast Podiatry Centre. Honestly speaking, I felt more comfortable with Georgina (female and kinder)
From what the specialists said - plantar fasciitis needs to be treated otherwise it will be a surgery to repair the damage. They did 2 sessions of shockwave and got me to change a few habits.
Never focused so much on my damn feet but at least they got me pain free in about 2 weeks. It wont come back as long as I listen to their advice and follow through.
Seriously, you really dont have to suffer with it. I even took my kids there for checking for free! but only with star card otherwise they wouldnt accept the fee waiver. Very grateful and comfortable. -

Kiarabear987, could you please advise on the free star card check up? What is a star card? What age can I bring my child to get their feet checked? -
I’ve tried wearing those customized insoles but didn’t really find them useful. In fact, they made walking more difficult. But, I realized that the pain went away after a while (I scaled back on running) and soon, it was gone. I suspect that it’ll come back if I push myself too hard so I’m trying to manage my fitness regime.
In short, I’m suggesting that you consider taking a break from running (if that’s the cause) and see how your feet recover. I’m no medical expert but it worked for me. -

I agree...resting is so important. but sometimes even with that the plantar fasciitis is just so stubborn and won't go away! maybe really podiatrist will help. -
Started with my mum many years back…she would heat up a brick, and with towel, will place her foot/heel on the brick on and off. She fully recovered.
My wife… seen so many specialists, podiatrists, bought custom sole… didn’t help until she tried my mum’s method… fully recovered.
My neighbor had the same problem and after my wife told her the method, fully recovered too.
All the best! -
I used to suffer from plantar problems because of a high arch, but after I started yoga and strengthened my feet the problem went away. My husband loves to run and has the opposite problem from me - flat feet - and when he re-learned to run with a fore / mid foot strike his plantar problem also slowly went away. but it took time to relearn to run and to get used to the new gait. He couldn’t go straight to long distances. My son is an athlete and gets various pains occasionally. He visits a sports physiotherapist who has been working on correcting his gait and the way he uses his muscles (upper body, core, glutes etc). When he does his exercises properly (just 5 min a day) we find he is more balanced and doesn’t suffer from any pains. I think insoles don’t actually cure you - they just relieve the pain. Its better to strengthen the correct areas to relieve pressure on the plantar area.

Good point.

Easy remedy for this is to do a little Self Myofascial Release. http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/self-myofascial-release.html
Use a ball, place it on your heel and rub in left and right, you'd have to apply a bit of pressure on it. That would assist with the relief of pain. Also, do note that stretching is super important too.
Eventually, keeping active helps!
