My DS finds the papers are easy, especially maths. He commented so simple, no challenging question. Not only him, whole class find it easy too.

The Nanyang Top class (High ability) is so steady ! :salute:
Wow ! looks like Whole class can proceed to Round 2

Is it possible to have 2 different cut off point for each subject, depending on the booklets?

Hmmm......interesting actually, maybe moe purposely 出 different pattern each year, so that ksp forum cannot 'catch' the trend? :siam:

I'm wondering if there's also 2 booklets for each subject last year, for round 1?
Even though using different booklet, think they mark the same way, ie. go by weightage,
ie mcq section : allocated how many marks,
open ended short qns section : apportioned how many marks

        Total, then add up together

        Last year (2015) p3 batch, born 2006 -
How many booklets were used ?
        1 or 2 booklet ?
        Anyone know ?

If last year batch used only 1 booklet, means our piggies are pioneering batch, to use 2 booklet. :? Wonder why GEB change strategy this year, want to test our piggy, like this ?

😄 Steady lovinglife! Good luck to you DS!!

However, there is a case that I have heard of that the whole class was accepted into round 2 except for 1 child.

First Comprehension passage was about a girl who couldn't read and needs the help of 2 teachers to overcome her reading problem. Eventually the girl managed to read. I think the story is about a girl who has dyslexia.

Second Comprehension passage was about the history of Leonardo Da Vinci, the artist who drew Mona Lisa.

my ds said his compre passages are about monkeys and homework, totally different from your dd. so there is more than one set of paper....?

dd says got the 2 that sembgal mentioned plus monkey and banana :scratchhead:

My dd told me each question is awarded 1 mark each for the difficult GEP Math screening test which comprises MCQ and problem sums. The marks awarded is indicated in the answer sheet that your child is required to fill in.

On the GEP paper, our DS and DD need to indicate SEX. My dd came home to question me why they (MOE) need to know girl (female) or boy (male) do the test papers.

Does it really boil down to gender differentiation for GEP selection? Are they showing a preference for boys compared to girls? Because ultimately, some females will choose to leave the workforce. Therefore the selection will favour the boys as compared to the girls? Let’s see if this year will there be a gender balance.

My DD2 took the test last year and it would appear that a standard version was used for the cohort for round 1.

As for this year's English paper, I wonder if there is any confusion? Seems like the 2 comprehension passages are on homework and Da Vinci while the cloze passage is about monkeys?

Gender wise, approx for every 2 boys, 1 girl will be chosen. This ratio is quite consistent throughout the years.
