Simply put, being 1km is nothing to do with the phase. By default, you'll be eligible only for Phase 2C onward (2C, 2C Sup & 3).

For every phase, the priority is given to those living closer to the school, so for every phase, being 1km is definitely an advantage. But for popular schools, there will be more applicants <1km than the available seats, so you'll end up balloting.

You will have a better chance if you move up to Phase 2B. Different schools have different ways for you to participate in Phase 2B. All schools accept grass root leaders in Phase 2B, but not all schools have PV scheme. Some schools only accept affiliated clan/church members to participate in Phase 2B. Again, being <1km will give you an advantage, but not a guarantee. Some popular schools end up balloting for those <1km in Phase 2B.

I hope this is clear. Please note that living <1km from a school does not guarantee you to secure a place there. This applies to all phases.

Does anyone know if Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary will accept PV applications if we live more than 2km of school now, but will be moving to within 1km before my child’s Pri 1 registration?

Anyone able to share what do they look for in Parent volunteers?

it's hard to tell what the school wants PVs to do. why not apply to be PV first and state how you can be of help? for eg, your availability, any experience working with kids.
