Yes, it's important to read up on the topics too, though textbook alone may not be enough. Your dd's school gave out science notes I suppose? Can combine reading materials with working on questions & practice papers to brush up on application. Thanks bgmum for sharing..
Guess for Sci better to read up those text book first :)..at least for my dd..this morning while she was doing the Sci paper then both of us suddenly stopped and trying to recall what is it with Platypus har? This word kept popping up when we did our revision last sem. Ended up I googled for it. Think Sci cannot skip as too many facts need to know. -
bgmum:
thanks for reminding, bgmum..teacher told them to bring home the files already. I got to make sure dd goes through it. did some Math papers today..at least this one looks ok as for now

depends on what comics youโre refering to. Some comics are useful
eg
my kid love reading magazine "Young Scientists", because the Scientific concepts are taught, via comics.
Kid laugh when she see the funny comic picture, then understood the concept the magazine trying to bring / portray across. -
FantasyLandDreams:
Ours 1st week of October 2016 : start the two P3 Compo SA2 (Chinese & English), followed by the two Oral SA2.That's early.
Ours everything in last 3 weeks of October:
Oral + Compo --> Gep Test 2 -->
Paper 2
Last week of Oct :
All the main Paper 2 come in one by one, without rest, each consecutive day.
This week (end of Term 3 break) :
is the best, appropriate time to revise Compo, Oral & all of entire past P3 Science Semester 1 Diversity since beginning of January, plus revise Term 3 Human body system, Plants system, before Term 4 start next Tue (13 Sep).
Once Term 4 start next Tue, week by week fly by, very fast !
(counting down, to SA2)
for Chinese main Paper 2 (vocab, compreh) -
SA2 will test all 20 chapters (since January), from textbook 3A & 3B -
phtthp:
my dd also love the Young Scientists comic styled books which we have at home..she borrowed those investigation type of comic books..I think generally the YS books should be helpful as she has been telling me certain things that she says learned from those YS books. I believe that she is skipping lots of words though as she never check dictionary.depends on what comics you're refering to. Some comics are useful

Hi! I'm trying to figure out how this new Kiasuparents.com is working...I no longer receive updates. I come in just to see look see look and happen to see this post from you.Sembgal, how do you practice oral with your dd? Dd never practice oral before. Any online reference to have a feel? Whenever I asked her, she will tell me that she is ok.
The website from the past year papers thread by a parent is good... testgems.com
Late reply. Apologies...
Back to the topic, English oral has to focus on the \"th\" sound. \"TH\" can appear to be in the beginning, middle or ending. Eg: thief, father, death. Highlight the th sound with one colour highlighter. Eg: Yellow. Use different colour to highlight different components like beginning sounds, ending sounds. These are very important to get all the articulation and intonation correct even if the child can read the word. Run through a list of commonly mispronounced words and practise that too.
Ask your child to express opinions for brochures, advertisements, pamphlets etc. use real life situation stuff. Eg: What gift will you choose to buy for your teacher on Teachers' Day? Why?
This is just a sample that I casually asked my girl once. Her reply was there was no need to buy any gifts as her teachers have specifically requested for homemade cards and she felt it would be more meaningful to give cards to teachers with personalized messages. Moreover, she does not have a lot of money to buy gifts for teachers so any extra gifts have to come from my pocket. The teachers might not like the gifts or the friend would be buying the same type of gifts to give to the teachers.
That's all I can think of now. -
sembgal:
Thanks sembgal..not late at all and I really appreciate your points..

http://www.sgtestpaper.com/
Free 2016 P6 Prelim papers for downloading.
Free 2015 and 2014 and 2013 exam papers for downloading too.
Selectively pick those exam papers that you think suit the topics that your children are learning.
For me, I picked RGS, MGS, SNGS papers as they are all girls schools papers and told my dd to do only selective questions due to lack of preparation time for the recent CA2 Science exam. The misconception is clarified after she made a mistake in MCQ. MCQ is trickiest and each question is 2 marks. Have to train technique to do MCQ questions by using elimination methods and recall learnt concepts. Orange Science revision guide book on standby to refer to in order to explain in a more coherently way. I need that Science guide book to teach myself how to better understand the new syllabus PSLE Science 2017. Our piggies are the 3rd batches adopting the new Science syllabus. -
find that schools still not giving much training on the Chinese new video Oral format training, to P3 students
hope the coming SA2 Oral (10 October 2016) : will be marked, leniently
from http://www.sgtestpaper.com/ -
very hard to find past years' Chinese P3 Paper 1 (zuowen) primary schools' zuowen SA1 / SA2 papers, to practise.
Most schools removed their past years' zuowen questions, from SA1 / SA2 section.
this one week break so fast over !
today already Friday
