Hello Daddies and Mummies,
Need some help here. I applied as a PV for Nan Hua pri last year and was rejected. I filled up the template given and submitted to the school as instructed but was told later that I need to present a detailed proposal on what I can contribute.
I intend to submit my application again this year. I would like to find out from the forum any successful cases of PV in Nan Hua pri. If yes, may I request for you to share on some writing tips for the proposal. Thanks. :?: -

Hi reneebh, Nan Hua is easily amongst the top 5 schools in Singapore academic-wise, so it will be very difficult to get in. If you still wish to do so and fail in the process, you can always let your child study in another school and attempt a transfer if your child manages to get good results in his exams.
Check out the earlier part of this thread for more tips. Luanee has kindly outlined a sample letter http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?&p=11147#11147. -
Hi reneebh,
I was finally confirmed as a parent volunteer, but it was after spending considerable amt of time preparing work according to the various teachers’ need.
When I first wrote in, I go beyond just filling in the template. It was a very detailed resume of what I can do for the school. My area of contribution is very specialize, time consuming and very project based. Luckily, it is also very much related to my work. Fr the time I met the teachers till I was finally accepted recently, I guess i would have put in more than 40 hrs. Even then, I dun think I even know how to fill in the time slot, cos my work can only be done outside, and not within the school compound. In the end, the teachers also admit that my work is more quality than quantity based.
My suggestion would be to put in your very special area of contribution. Go beyond the normal activities such as monitor traffic, learning support, library support etc. They do not need that.
I hope the above helps. -
Hi
I am staying 1-2km range from HIPS. What will be my chance like if I get to be PV in HIPS? My gal registration in 2010. Going for an interview with the school soon, wonder what should I prepare or what are the expectations? Any Advise? -

It will be an advantage if you can contribute and help to improve the school standard in CCA, sports or uniform groups.
You need proof to support you can perform the service at a reasonable standard. Like former uniform groups, national team in sports or took part in national/school school level competition.
You need to state in your letter that you are prepared to contribute more than 40 hrs and even after your child gets in P1 when is needed.
Trust me, this is going to be like writing a job application letter to impress your \"future boss\".
But if you stay >2km, there is a high chance of balloting in 2B. -

It is well known that it is extremely hard to get accepted as a PV in NHPS. Best to get other back-up plans.

Hi ChiefKS,
Any advise ? -
I am probably the most kiasu parent here. My boy will only be in P1 in 2013 but I'm already reading up on how to apply as a PV. Being a parent is no easy task nowadays.
Anyone can share on PV for ACS? Based on history if PV, and stay within 1kmm does that mean the chance is as food as guaranteed?

ACJS and ACPS do not have a PV system for priority entry...u need to move within 1 km...and those properties are not cheapI am probably the most kiasu parent here. My boy will only be in P1 in 2013 but I'm already reading up on how to apply as a PV. Being a parent is no easy task nowadays.
