All the best to the DCs for their PSLE.

I am keeping my DS at home today to rest & de-stress. Playing some Ipad games & doing bite-size revision.Thinks he also prefers to stay at home to review his own stuff.
I am keeping my daughter at home tomorrow.
we have been playing angry birds on the ipad to de-stress.

With a CO and WL under his belt, your DS can definitely afford to chillax  :boogie: šŸ˜‰

Btw Janet, how much extra time is given to your DD for each paper?

My niece said she had 50 mins extra time for her papers during her prelims. She told her mum that she gets 50% more time for each paper. Not sure how it worked out to be 50mins more though, Her mum is not sure herself, because she has a different understanding to the extra timing her DD should get. Anyway, I told my niece not to assume she is getting 50 mins extra and try to complete her papers as fast as she can.

she has 1 minute extra reading time for oral, 15 min for compo, 25 minutes for EL paper 2, Math & Science, 10 minutes for Math paper 1

The extra 15 min time for Compo is good, because it can help the child in planning out the outline.

The extra 25 minutes for Maths is useful, because often it is Maths that students find not enough time, to complete.

The same for Science : extra time useful, to answer tricky MCQ plus some difficult open ended Science questions

                  For English paper 2 :
Usually kids find still got time to complete

Well that is assuming they work like other kids. They get extra time because they work more slowly than other kids due to various causes as certified by educational psychologists. It could be language disorders, dyslexia, dysgraphia etc. The extra time does not give any additional advantage and is in fact considered insufficient by the professionals. There is also the added factor of fatigue as these kids need to burn more to get through the same task. Some cannot realistically last through the paper.

For psle? She will have a slip detailing exactly what accommodations she is getting, including the minutes. It is unlikely that she does not know.
If it is for school, the aed will still follow guidelines from MOE. Perhaps the 50 min is the sum total across all papers.

the extra time does sound good...but for a taxing subject like Math, it will be draining.
for Math paper 1, although she is given additional 10 minutes (usual 50 minutes), i get her to finish the paper within 55 minutes, giving each question slightly over 1.5 minutes and for paper 2, it's about 6 minutes per word problem. comprehension OE and synthesis would have more time over other sections.
