              GreenBird:

For Upper Sec 3 O level track students (non IP), how do they allow students to select Sec 3 subject combination ?

Is it take the results at end of Sec 2, rank them by subject, then allow those students strong in that subject, to continue take in Sec 3 ?

              example
Ranked by subject Physics : only those who did well in end of Sec 2 physics Paper, allowed to continue take Pure physics in Sec 3

              Or

Ranked by subject Chemistry : only those who did well in end of Sec 2 Chemistry Paper, can continue to proceed with Sec 3 Pure Chemistry ?

So if don't do well in Chemistry at end of Sec 2 : can't take Chemistry in Sec 3 ?
              Is it like this ?

Isn't chemistry MUST TAKE subject?(I didn't hear this from SNGS, is by my knowledge of O levels) Also, fyi SNGS only has pure.

Nvrm ignore me... That's what I thought... I checked the combinations, I'm horribly wrong. I'm so sorry

                Hi all parents,

Pls kindly feedback on the IP programmes that your gal have experienced so far. Are their material notes up to the "IP" standard? I am seriously considering my gal to go for their IP track but a few of my friends said their O level is better than IP track. Kindly advise & give feedback. Thanks in advance!

Chem is compulsory subj regardless of grades. So is A math.

Subj comb i think based on availability rathr thn result.
Sec 1 n 2 both O lvl n IP do same topics to ease transition for those who want to go IP in sec3

Pls kindly feedback on the IP programmes that your gal have experienced so far.

Are their material notes up to the \"IP\" standard?

besides gleaning / gathering from parents' first-hand-experience & feedback about \"IP\" curriculum taught & covered here in this school, may also refer to the IP syllabus (Year 1 to Year 4) outlined here, can also refer Sec 2 to Sec 4 Subject combination under \"IP\" track :
goto 2016 CHIJ St Nicholas Secondary website, under \"News & Announcements\", then click <Open> the Powerpoint presentation slides.

                      http://chijstnicholasgirls.moe.edu.sg/secondary

                      example

in the last slide, under \"IP\" track, school mentioned that :

                      - Students need to meet the school selection criteria, in order to offer 3 pure Sciences and/or 2 Humanities subjects, ie 1-A3, 1-C3, 1-E3, 1-A3, 1-C3, 1-E3 options.

                      - All pupils are strongly advised to indicate a different Humanities subject within their four choices, during selecting subject combination.

                      - Offer of Full Humanities subjects (i.e. Full Geography, Full History and Full Literature in English) will be by merit, if the number who opted exceed the quota of available number of classes.

                      - Offering of L3, is taken as the 9th subject.

Then, repeat (do likewise) to other more established schools' IP Curriculum track (\"more established\", in terms of the length of time or duration their IP Program had been in place, since started from Day 1), say, like RGS or Nanyang Girls High.

Then, compare & contrast the \"IP\" Syllabus outlined (from Year 1 to Year 4), amongst these 3 \"All Girls\" schools : check how close, how near or how far are we away, from them ?
                      eg
are there any certain Topics, or any project, in any subjects, from Year 1 to Year 4, that are being taught and covered in RGS (IP) / NYGH (IP) by the Teachers there, but not covered inside St Nick (IP) ?
If Yes, what's missing, being taught, or being exposed to ?
(hence, explain the difference in school fees paid, amongst them)

                      another method is -
if you happen to have friends whose daughters are already in the IP program, from these 3 Girls' schools, take a look at their (Year 1 to Year 4) eight or nine subject school files, ranging from Humanities to pure Sciences, see what they covered, what had been taught : wherein lies the difference (if any), in the IP curriculum taught (amongst these 3 well known Secondary Girls' schools).

many of our Top \"O\" level students in St Nick Secondary :
either join Raffles Institution or join Hwa Chong Institution for \"A\" level, after the JAE (Joint Admission Exercise) exercise, after \"O\" level results been released. These are often the 3-pointers scorers, in their \"O\" level results, coupled with excellent CCA track record.

based on Subject combination for Sec 3 & Sec 4 -
\"O\" level students can still take Triple Pure Science subjects (Pure Physics / Chemistry / Biology), provided the student able to meet certain criteria.

Yes, up till Sec 4 \"O\" level, students still allowed to do Triple pure Sciences, if the student show that she is strong in all 3 Sciences, & have the ability to cope.

However, once enter Junior College, due to compulsory rule need to take Humanities subject, \"A\" level students cannot take Triple Pure Sciences (pure Bio, Physics, Chemistry) concurrently anymore, at \"A\" level.

So, at \"A\" level students have to choose which field of Sciences they wish to specialise in, taking into consideration their possible future university path or course / Faculty of study they wish to pursue later on in University, after sitting for their major \"A\" level exam.

Next year (2017 onwards), Eunoia Junior college start the admission of their first batch of Joint Admission Exercise students, after they had sat for their \"O\" level.
