MOE从听、说、读、写四个方面来设计教材，在家里说华文，制造华文的氛围，多听，多说，多写，让孩子在无形中喜欢华文。
虽然有很多家长都把孩子送去了补习中心，但是在补习中心一个星期只有一到二次课，在家里的时间更为宝贵，可以督促孩子做一些华文练习，阅读华文故事书等。

1 of the proven methods to pick up word is \"字辨\" which is using a \"部外\" and match it with all the relevant \"部首\". Eg the word \"包\"。The attached picture is an illustration:
