So will the COP be the same as last year? My dd got 263+2 and we are trying for NYGH. What's her chance? Thanks

From my 2 previous experience, if your Dd has award with ESSIS she will be able to get in to NYGH.
Good luck

I have a qn on school posting, wonder whether anyone can help.

If Child A and Child B have the same t-score and the t-score is the cut-off for School X, which left with one vacancy. If Child A choose School X as 2nd choice (she did not get into 1st choice) and Child B choose School X as 1st choice, will the ranking of the choice affect the chance of Child A getting into School X? Or it will be base on balloting at this stage?

Thanks

hi,

Am getting conflicting advice from friends and friends of friends...

If DS got 257, would it be \"risking his chances of getting into Anderson\" if we put RI (cop: 261) as 1st choice and Anderson (cop: 247) as 2nd choice?
Why Anderson Sec if he's scored 10 points above its COP? How about Cat High in Bishan?
Got HMT distinction or not? Maybe can add 3 points to 257?

No.

S1 posting with T-score is purely by merit.
You will not lose out to another student with T-score of 256
who had put Anderson as 1st choice. You will still have priority
over that other student.
DD 266+2. NJC or RGS ? Never go to RGS open hse because didn't expect my DD to score above 255. Anyone can share your RGS open house exp? Is it a stressful school? Any feedback on NJC vs RGS? She is offered EESIS, is this only for 1st year if she chooses an independent school? Thanks

Congrats on your DD's excellent results. RGS is a very good school n it will be a waste if you don't try. It's not easy to get a score of 266 so I am sure your DD is able to cope with the highly competitive, enriching n challenging circulum from RGS. It's also not easy to get into RGS and a lot of students want to get in.

BTW, I am not promoting RGS but I have seen the 'end products' of the school and I believe it's worth having an education in the Raffles family of schools.

Thanks for your advice. RGS is a definitely 'the' dreamed school of choice. However RGS seems to be very competitive :scared: ( based on the COP). Worried that my DD cant cope in RGS. How's the RGS teachers' support there? We heard NJC has very good teachers support and their class size is only 21 for sec 1.
Had she been hovering around 250-255 range from P4-P6? Hard to tell if she will struggle in RGS which takes in a lot of consistently 260-280 scorers (incl geppers). But do consider that 250-255 in a top elite pri school (too many smart peers competing with her) is different from 250-255 in an ordinary school, methinks šŸ˜› E.g. if she was from NYPS and had been hovering around 250, I think she'll be fine in RGS lah.

NJC is co-ed, if that's a factor to be considered for dds.

t scores comes with many, many decimals points behind. balloting is very unlikely. the child with the absolute higher score will get into school X.

What I was told was that, while the T-score presented to you is a whole number,
there are actually many decimal places coming after it.

So posting is done with those decimal places. That's why for a school
with COP of 252, some students with T-score of 252 will lose out to others
who also scored 252 because their decimal values are not as high as those
who got in.

To answer your question, whether Child A or Child B will get into School X
depends on which child has a higher decimal value. The order of their
choice does not matter at all.
