Anyone has tried online submission? Will it be jammed on the last 2 days of submission deadline?

Is it safe to put RI as 1st choice for t-score 266? Thanks

        Absolutely not safe.
Police will come and catch you, monsters will appear to bite you and you might accidentally trigger apocalypse.

Seriously, you have 6 choices. As long as you spend some thought and apply sense in at least half of them (i.e. reasonably safe choices for 3rd to 6th), it doesn't matter if your first choice is a moon shot (miracles do happen, albeit rarely).

I am actually rather surprised that a lot of people select the schools based on last year's lowest T-score of the school, not the median score. As the distance and convenience were important factors to us, DD and I spent time going for different open houses prior to PSLE and actually timed the commute between home to the school, including the wait/walk time. We also considered schools that were up to 20+ points lower than DD's estimated T-score, just as a safety net. We are happy that DD has a high chance of getting into her first choice school as her T-score was right smack into the school's median score recorded last year.

I would personally worry if DD insisted on selecting the \"utmost reputable\" school where she barely meets the COP, as it may affect her self-esteem knowing she starts off at the bottom of the pack. That particular T-score may be listed as the school's lowest score of 2017 intake, and she has to bear with the initial phase of schoolmates sharing each others' T-scores. As my DD will start the journey of her school life for the next 6 years, these social aspects were important for our decision.

          Hi Morinisuke,

How do we find out school's Mean Score?

The median score is available at sis.moe. gov.sg

Lol. I'm not sure I would want to go to a school with a COP of more than 260, but hey, there are some would relish the challenge. Go for it. Even if you don't get it, there are many other schools who would welcome you.

For us we just picked the most convenient so that he can get tangible benefits like time to rest and less competitive mindsets from the kiasuparents kids.

Do you think the school makes a difference to your child's intelligence at all? or are we choosing to believe in that to convince ourselves we did something ? Our opinion is that a person's ability is restricted by his genetic make up and that is it.
My problem now is that it is DS who is the one insisting......not us the parents..... 🤷

What's the chance for SJI non-affiliation at tscore 244?

                Thanks.

my boy got same aggregate 244 and wish to try SJI... will you take SJI as first choice?

U can always try then choose carefully your other 5 choices just incase did not get into SJI with COP of 246.

The COP for the previous year (2014 P6 and 2015 S1) was 242.

Do agree with floppy that first choice can be a moon shot under the current scheme. Hi Steadyberry, base on the last ten years COP, the highest for RI has been 263 (for 2013 S1 and 2007 S1). I referred to a link provided by a forumer in an earlier post.

My kid's score is 252. What school should I consider? Prefer girls' school and I live near Kovan.

Her score is not that high and will have problem getting into St Nicholas.

                      u may consider

                      SCGS IP
                      SCGS O level

                      Cedar O level

                      Temasek IP

got one year : the difference between SCGS IP and SCGS O level, was only 1 point difference.

last year, COP for Cedar \"O\" level was 250, COP for Cedar (IP) was 254 : 4 points difference

Absolutely. I share your thoughts on this issue too. To me, it is better to go for a school not based on the child meeting it's COP as it may affect her confidence and attitude.
However, I can empathise with those going for the COP too. They feel that Secondary school is a reset for the child, and PSLE only provides the entry point. Once in the school, by interacting with high performing peers, the child may up her game. Also, the higher the COP, the more uniform is the quality of the students. Many of the new students are likely to be near the COP.
Essentially, if your child is competitive, go for the COP. If you feel that you want more opportunity for your child to shine amongst her peers (academic or cca wise), go for the median. That's why I keep saying that we should leave it to the child to make the final decision, once we have outlined the pros and cons of various schools to her. She must understand the kind of competition she is likely to face in the next 4 years of her life.

\"You're the average of the 5 people you spend most time with.\"
