If you meet the COP of this year for your last choice school but failed to gain entry (loosing out on decimal places), then you will be posted to a school that still has vacancy after the posting exercise. To avoid being posted to a random school by the system, it will be good to pick the sixth choice school carefully. If your t-score meets the 2017 S1 COP (you may call the school on the posting result release day to find out the COP), you may appeal to the school. Acceptance of appeal depends on vacancy and discretion lies with the school.ngemily:
Will it happen if I meet the school COP but I don't get in?
The actual COP is determined by each cohort. Last year's COP is just a guide for u and this year's COP will be determined by the student who gets the very last vacancy this year. The system will just keep allocating until the school is filled.
One common advice is to pick two schools that are slightly above your COP (e.g. 2-3 marks above), 2 schools that are your range, and 2 slightly below. Do list in order of preference because the system will check in that order. Once it finds a vacancy for you, it will stop going through your list and move on to the next student. -

Ditto for dd2. Immune to sound of alarm. She is still relying on dd1 to wake her up. Place alarm right next to her also no use, can continue sleeping -

Thanks for the insight! I have always wondered how the thing works and now it makes sense.Psle score is your queue number. So imagine all the post-psle kids in a long queue, starting from highest score to lowest.
When it is your turn, the system will then run through your 6 choices in order of the preference listed. So if Cedar is your first preference, put right on top. If Cedar still has a vacancy, it will be given to you. If it has no more vacancies, the system will move to your second choice and check if there are vacancies. If there is, that will be allotted to you and the system move on to the next student in queue. If there isn't, the system move on to your next choice and does the same again.
So if the system starts processing from the student with the top t-score and works down from there, there is no chance that anyone may get unseated from a school that was \"temporarily allocated\" to him as his first choice, by someone with a higher t-score who chose that school as his last choice. That's because the one with the higher t-score would have gotten the place earlier.
Brilliant. The world now makes a little more sense to me

haha...me too. But not the punctuality part, as I needed to change buses! Sometimes overslept and overshot bus stop!
