Then why for IJ Toa Payoh Secondary, they don't continue to sew the belt onto the back of the pinafore, like what they did in IJ primary school ?

It is quite an eye sore to see belt loosely hung down, isn't it ?

as a former student, I do agree with you that discipline is very strict in IJ.
there was no imac nor dance studio then...the chapel is a comfortable place to enjoy some cool air and pray for help.

my daughter is in p6 this year. my dearest wish is for her to get into IJ TP secondary.

my daughter is in good hands in IJ TP primary.
i believe the secondary side would also have teachers who are the same....patient and warm.
since she is in NA, the pace will be slower.

the culture is warm and homely all thanks to the principal.

there are 2 titles for literature, one is ‘merchant of venice’ and other one is ‘lightning God’.
can any parent advise which one please? i wish to get daughter prepared for the subject. thanks.

For the literature titles, It is advisable to get both because since both are included in the booklist, it is most likely that it is needed for Secondary One.

do they start off with \"Merchant of Venice \" first, then come Semester 2 (July to Nov), use the other book, \"Lightning God \", instead ?

at which point in time, do they start to change Literature books ?

This year's Sec 1 students had different books. We had Boy In The Striped Pjs and Ten Short Stories. So sadly, I do not know about the new books... However they seem fairly familiar, perhaps it was used by the Sec 2's this year? Im not sure...

However usually one of the book is for English, and the other is for Literature. So it doesn't concern the Semester usage of it.
