I beg to differ for MGS. They have affiliation which is as low as 220. Most of the girls will remain. That means less vacancies for non-affiliation. That is why their cut off is \"high\". So, it is not correct to say it has \"catch up\". Just to share my views.

Did the one class increase in IP lead to one class less in O level track?
If it did, then that could explain why COP for O level track is higher. -

MGS IP is the only girls' school that offers IB. Perhaps that's the reason the Cop is high. And as someone mentioned earlier above, MGS added one more IP class. That could be the reason MGS IP Cop shifted down a bit
But I understand there is no affiliation for their IP.

Slight dip in cut-off points for popular secondary schools despite record PSLE performance
SINGAPORE - The minimum entry requirement for most popular secondary schools dropped slightly this year.
This is despite the cohort's record performance at the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) this year, with 98.4 per cent doing well enough to progress to secondary school - a new record since the national exam was introduced in 1960.
One reason for this dip could be the smaller cohort size. A total of 38,808 pupils sat the PSLE this year, down from 39,286 last year.
Schools with the highest cut-off points based on the PSLE T-score include Nanyang Girls' High School, which had a minimum score of 264 points, the same as last year's. The score is aggregated from four subjects at the exams.
The score for entry to Methodist Girls' School's Integrated Programme dropped from 261 last year to 259 this year, while that for Dunman High School went down from 258 to 257.
At both Raffles Institution (RI) and Hwa Chong Institution (HCI), the cut-off point went down by one point. At RI, it went down from 261 to 260, while at HCI it went down from 260 to 259.
The cut-off scores for CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School's Integrated Programme and O-level track this year were 257 and 253 respectively, compared to last year's 258 and 253.
Those who did not meet the cut-off points will find it difficult to transfer to another school. Last year (2015),the Ministry of Education issued a new directive. All secondary schools are now not allowed to take in transfer pupils whose PSLE scores did not meet their cut-off points during the school transfer season.
Before this, schools with vacancies after the Secondary 1 posting exercise could accept students with lower scores who appeal.
Students were informed on Wednesday of the secondary schools that they have been posted to, and must report to their respective secondary schools on Thursday at 8.30am.
Those applying for school transfers should first report to their posted secondary schools, and submit an application form to the schools that they wish to appeal to by 12 noon on Thursday.
The results of the appeals will only be made known to applicants in early January next year. -
