2016 O levels (Kids born in 2000)

Connecting the dots:
Hi, anyone know if parents are allowed to accompany children to school to collect O Levels results on 11 Jan 2017 ?
Parents are allowed to accompany their kids to collect the results but most of the time, the kids don't want their parents to be hanging around in school. This is very different from PSLE.

Is there a separate thread to update this year’s schools O level performance? Maybe somethng similar to the one on PSLE result.

even my mum said i was nuts to go with him.
he is feeling a little moody since last week....but like what i told my girl, what's done is done. -
Hopefully with eunoia Jc coming into the list, entrance to other better JCs will be easier.

with the introduction of IP programs, there is lesser competition for kids who took o levels....but this batch is the dragon year (2000), so pressure is still there for courses. son's biggest worry is not being able to get into the poly course of his interest. -

If u follow your son to collect O level results, & his classmates see his mommy with him, they will laugh at him, call him a mommy's boy. That's why they don't want their mom to follow them, collect O level results

Is a different scenario, from collecting psle results -
Teenagers value their face a great deal. At 12, accompanying them to collect results was parental support…but at 16, they won’t want us around anymore.

Getting into JCs have been getting easier over the years as A level loses its appeal (not that it has much to begin with, beyond being a stepping stone to university).isetan:

On the other hand, cut-off points for the poly courses have been gradually reducing as supposedly JC bound students sign up for them. Looking at janet88's son first choice: Business Studies in NP, last year's COP for L1R2B2 is 10points. Safe to say that every single student in the course is eligible for JC. -

While it can be bittersweet, it's something to welcome when kids tell us they can do things without us. I think it also shows that they are secure in the knowledge that we are still behind them, just at a distance. I have a daughter who is NOT independent - I even went to poly open houses with her as she would probably would have got lost if she went alone (and she has no friends who were going). I rejoice every time she tells me she can do something without me! -
Should parent(s) tag along to collect \"O\" results tomorrow, 11/01/2017??
