Hi anyone got accepted to Nanhua PV recently?

Happened to see from the school website that there are classes 6AB1, 6AB2 and 6AB3. Just wondering why these classes are special. Anyone knows?

Hi, If you were to refer to 2016's Meet-The-Parent session attachments, these appear to be pullout classes. -

Ah I see... I think I've discarded the circular regarding 2016's MTP session *Oops* But I get the idea. Thanks!Serendipity:

Hi
Can I ask if anyone has experience with the Maths Olympiad classes?
I heard that it will be on wednesdays afternoons with external vendor.
Is the external vendor good?
Do the olympiad classes go on through the whole year or only for a short term of the year?
Are only the olympiad class students allowed to join the Maths Olympiad competitions or are the competitions open to the rest of the students who don't join the classes too?
appreciate any info!
Thanks in advance

Hi,
>Is the external vendor good?
The vendor tends to be Maths Hub. Quality of teaching really depends on luck, ie the teacher one is assigned to.

About 12 sessions a year.

MO competition is open to all students, regardless of whether they have been MO-trained.
School MO training participation rate is generally about half of cohort size. It's good value for money but I'd say insufficient practice if one is aiming for the top MO accolades. -
Hi Sky Minecrafter
Thanks for the reply. Am trying to see if I should schedule DC’s activities to make an empty slot for the wed pms to attend the MO classes…
Btw, the Maths Olympiad competitions are only open to students P5 and above right?
Would it be ok to only attend MO training in the upper primary years, rather than from p3 like offered? or too late to make a difference then… -

Hi, Again this depends on your objectives. If you want to give the top MO accolades a shot, it seems better to start early. If it is just for exposure, then there is no need to bend over backwards; like discussed, school MO training is just touch-and-go. http://www.nushigh.edu.sg/admission-n-outreach/outreach/national-mathematical-olympiad-of-singapore/rules-n-regulations is open to P4 students as well in our school, but the content being competed mostly requires P5 MA (& above) knowledge.Am trying to see if I should schedule DC's activities to make an empty slot for the wed pms to attend the MO classes.. I understand that NHPS does not provide any math olympiad trainings even for upper primary. There is only the limited number of sessions for P3s, provided by vendor. If we are interested in the competition we have to source for enrichments externally. Is this generally the case for other primary schools?
