May I know in general how long will it take for PA screen the volunteer application?

From my limit information, it seems the screening time varies quite big case by case. One of my friend become the NC observer only 1 weeks after he submit the form, whist the other even wait 2~3 month before turn into observer.

Any other method can speed up the procedure? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, would appreciate some advice on this as well please? I had submitted my application back in July last year and have not heard a word since! Had followed up in Oct and was told they were screening my application. Does it really take so long to do screening?

The turnaound time from submitting application to become observer is not dependent on the screening process alone, it also depends on if the RC/NC have vacancies and also how long is the waiting list for new observers. Why not call up the CC in charge of your RC/NC to find out more?

        Hi,

I join RC in GRC A and become observer in Jan 2017. I would expect to be EM in mid-2017
I am planning to change my residential address in early 2020 (or a few months earlier) to GRC B with my choice school.
The enrolment exercise for P1 for my girl is in June/July 2020.

Question: How do I let my girl enrol in phase 2B in the choice school?

        Would appreciate some advice.

        Thanks.
Just to be clear about the progression from observer to EM, it is not a given that the Exco need to convert observer to EM within a said timing, individual RCs have different ways to manage the volunteers. Some can take up to a year if they do not have vacancy.

As to the question of getting your daughter into your choice school in GRC B, my advise is to get in touch with the RC/NC in GRC B nearer to when you intend to shift house. It would be good if you can tell Exco upfront of your intention to enrol your daughter in phase 2B. But it could be a double edge sword in my opinion as you are new to the GRC, they are not obligated to help you since whatever contribution you have made is to GRC A, hard to justified, it might be good to explore other ways to improve your chance to enrol in your choice school.

        Hope this helps.

          Hi,

          Another enquiry.
Lets say a parent has served at GRC A as EM for 2 years.
The parent then shifted to a condo at GRC B but continue as AM in GRC A.
Can the parent get PA letter of endorsement for priority registration to a primary school in GRC B.
This does not seem to be in conflict with any present rules.

          Please advise factually.

          Thanks.

The answer is no, reason being the volunteer must be in active service (EM status) and 2 years service period in order for PA to recommend him/her for awarding of letter of endorsement in the GRC they reside in.

Firstly, if you moves out of the GRC A and continue to serve as AM, you would not be qualified to be recommended in GRC A as you don't reside in GRC A.

Secondly, if the condo you are moving into do not have a NC, you cannot continue to serve as EM, you will not get recommended for GRC B as you don't fulfill the requirement of active service.

            Hope this answer your queries.

correct me if i am mistaken,
Get GRC A's chariman to allow you to continue service in GRC A, as an EM, while you physically stay in GRC B.

                1. Just to confirm, AM cannot get the PA endorsement letter?

And it would be unfair to the observers at GRC A who were deemed to be suitable for EM position but unable to be promoted, due to lack of openings.

Hi correct me if I’m wrong.

Based on my Understanding, yes you can get GRC A’s chairman to allow You to continue service but as an AM (not EM), while physically staying in GRC B.

Come p2b, you have to get the letter from your chairman in GRC A. The letter will state your residing address and you can use that letter to apply for schools in the GRC B where you reside in.

AM is still entitled to p2b letter but no voting rights

                        I quote the below source from an article from ChiefKiasu;

EM is a must before PA give you the chance to apply for letter of endorsement, it is not a given all EM will get that chance, and also not all apply will get approve by Advisor.

Unless there are new amendment to the GRL guideline, I remember AM is not entitled to GRL perks.
