      Hi,

my girl will be entering MGS in 2017.

      Some questions for parents:

      1. There are 2 colours for the PE tees, who decides which colour to get?
      2. Which is better - the 100% cotton or the polycotton?
      3. Is the MGS jacket the only allowed jacket in campus? or are they allowed to wear their own jackets?
      4. Is LTA/TP very active along Blackmore/Old Holland Rd?

So excited about joining the school.

      Thanks in advance!!!

        Hi, welcome to MGS 🙂

        1. Fine to wear either colour. No rule as to which colour to wear.

        2. I find the quality of the blue tee is better. The white tee tends to have furballs after a few washes.

        3. Own jacket or cardigan is fine as long as it is black or dark blue with no obvious logo.

        4. Yes LTA is v active along Blackmore. But the school was granted permission for parents to park along a stipulated stretch on Blackmore drive. For drop off and pick up, there is no need to park. Just go through the roundabout and drop your girl in the school campus. Traffic seems heavy but it moves v fast. Not to worry 🙂

Exciting years in MGS ahead! All the best!

Isabel Rivas, currently in P6 at MGS applied for DSA (taekwondo) for MGS and was rejected. She is a 6 times national champion for taekwondo.

It seems that this school does not value talented sports people.

Hi. My DD is due for 2017 P1 registration this year. I’m an old girl and am staying in the east. I have a choice of putting her in Kong Hwa Primary which is only 2 bus stops away from my home or MGS. I’m geared towards MGS mainly for the affiliation.

              1. Would like to seek any opinion if it’s worth the journey as I understand school bus picks up around 6am daily.
              2. Are there anyone here travelling from east to MGS? Would u mind sharing your experience? Are they on school bus or self ferried? What time do they arrive in school and back home if on school bus.

              Appreciate.

                I am staying at Kallang.

The school bus quoted me $250/month. Fetch at 5.50am (too early!), drop off at 2.30pm.

I decided to send her on my own. Saw many school buses reaching school at 6.20am though.

Hi Weathermum, thank you so much for your reply. May I know what time do u send her in the morning and how’s the traffic like? If u pick her up from school, what time does she reach home? Appreciate it!

We leave the house at 6.10 am (because I need to reach my workplace at 7 am) and reaches school between 6.25-6.35. Very smooth at that time.

She goes home on her own. Downtown line is so convenient. She also reaches home around 2.30pm. She enjoys taking the train with her friends.

                      mgsian:
Forget about MGS. It's not worth the hype.

After the June holiday, my daughter had 2 of her teachers replaced.
Science and Chinese. Being in P4, with only 4 major subjects, thats a 50% replacement rate.
And the worst part is that she has 2 Chinese teachers since July.
One Chinese teacher for Mondays to Thursdays, and another for Fridays.
There is a serious lack of care and concern for the students in MGS with such changes.
                      Hi mgsian,
                      can feedback to school management?
