      phtthp:
what's the purpose of Supplementary lessons ?

      compulsory or optional ?
apply to the entire P4 cohort level, or to selected students only ?

why can't Supplementary lessons be taught within the normal school curriculum hours, but must stay back after school instead ?
do all schools at P4, conduct these ?

      another question -
are there any school, that doesn't conduct P4 IT training (compulsory) ?
I am thinking maybe we should start a supplementry class thread. My dd1 started sup class only this year in P6. DD1 told me, for her school, for sup classes for some subjects, they will be further sort according to their P6 SA1 results. :scared:

      Pros:
1). I have more ME TIME, a lot more.

      Cons:
2). No time for revision set by me.
3). DD gets drained out and feels tired most of the evenings

I wonder why the school not try to finish everything within Sch hours like our time. It's really tiring to stay back for extended hours after school. Don't forget, for some other days when they do not have sup class, they have CCAs and other activities like MO training.

For CAs, maybe our school is the odd one out? DD1 has never had any CA1/CA2. I find it less stressful and we can have more time for other things. Very good, I like. I don't think she is at any disadvantage without taking CAs for 6 years! In fact, there's less stress overall.

Compulsory IT training at P4? I am not sure.

why some schools at P4 have CA1 this week (February), while other schools do not ?

do you think is better to have CA1, or not ?
Did your child's school have CA1 last year?

No, school no CA1 (Feb) nor CA2 (Aug), only SA1 (May) & SA2 (Oct)

How about your child's school ?
            This year : he got CA1 ?

I've heard mixed reviews about supp classes as well. Some schools implement across cohort, some implement for HA classes only. Some use it to teach 'extras' to drill for PSLE, some use it to catch up on 'lost' time. As long as it is 'optional' and not 'compulsory', it is fine to me, such that if a child is really overloaded and parent can teach at home, at least it gives some leeway for parent to 'opt out' for more rest time for the child.

We don't have CA as well, and I'm quite happy with this arrangement. I cannot imagine a 'ganjiong spider' nagging a 'snail who likes to 涂' 4 times a year. Twice is enough.

Ahh.. glad to hear there are schools doing away with CAs too. Can't imagine having CA in Feb, I will probably cancel all the CNY visitations! 😆

Sup class = school. Dun go sup class like saying dun go school. Compulsory.

Supp class - think, is like school giving free tuition for P4 subjects (English, Maths, Science)

I was telling dd that I hope they have CA1. For me is to see if dd could follow.

best to check, with your daughter's Affliated school.

                      Sometimes, certain primary schools at (P3, P4) : don't have CA1 nor CA2.
                      But come P5 , suddenly got CA1.

Kids still can attend CNY, those 3 days of \"bai nian\", to collect Ang pow

Only after CNY, after Eat enough of Bagua minced pork, then start to gear up for CA1.

                        Eg
St Anthony Cannosian Convent primary (Bedok) : just started P4 CA1 Maths (first paper) this week in Feb, on Monday (13 Feb), last paper to end by first week of March.

While other schools are starting their P4 CA1 1st paper In the 1st week of March, last paper end by the last week of March.

Depending on the school, the weightage of P4 CA1 towards final year end, getting ready for streaming
                        : is around 10 to 20 %
