Punggol View would most probably ballot within 1km whereas Oasis would most probably escape balloting. Your choice would depend on your appetite for risk.HiHi my girl will be enrolling into pri 1 year and I am in a dilemma.
I am staying in Punggol and my alumni is FMSP. I am thinking of sending her there but yet the distance is a killer, hence I may even settle for PVPS or the new Oasis Pri.
Any parent here thinking of sending your children to any of the school above? -

Thanks for the reply. Any parent whose kid is already in the above mentioned school and how is the ciriculum like? As I know MTPS is beri academic and they only stress on Academic. -
Hi all

We will be registering our daughter for P1 this year for 2018 intake.
We stay within 1km from Radin Mas and CHIJ Kellock, need more inputs or advise on which Primary should we take? As currently we are confused on which school do we need to register our girl. For CHIJ, we are keen for the affiliates with the secondary school, but RMPS also is a very good school.
Any kind advise or inputs for our consideration before this July's registration? As we can only register her under phase 2C for both schools.
Thank you

My personal opinion, take the one with the better chance to get in Phase 2C.Hi all

Secondly, I personally go for the affiliation. There are many sad stories about the child who attends a top primary school but does badly in PSLE and ends up in a not so good secondary school.
On the other hand, there are many happy stories about the child who attends a not too bad primary school and barely passes PSLE but proceeds to the affiliated secondary school, which is way much better than the one in the first story.
I leave it to you to choose now. -

first, you need to check whether the Secondary school which CHIJ Kellock primary, is affliated to :-Hi all

how are her GCE O level results, like ?
is this Secondary school O level results : good or not, in her GCE \"O\" level performance, so far ?
you can refer her Sec school website O level performance, to take a look, although your girl may not study O level track eventually, for she may study IP track instead.
However, taking a look at her affliated Sec school results, give you a rough idea, where her O level students, stand.
secondly, your daughter born in 2011, will come under the new AL PSLE scheme.
She will study P1 next year, 2018, and be sitting for PSLE P6 , in year 2023.
The affliation scheme, although will still exist, under the coming new AL scheme (kick-off, from 2021), may not be as generous as under current T-score system anymore :-
whereby current students with PSLE T-score 200 (with 200: can qualify for Express O level stream) at CHIJ Kellock primary, can still go back to study O level at her affliated Secondary school, as opposed to outsiders coming in at 23X or 24X T-score range, implying a huge almost at least minimum 25 points difference, thus making it worthwhile, with an affliated Secondary school, on emergency stand-by, to hang onto.
in other words, if the affliation advantage is not that generous anymore, under the new AL PSLE points system :
then, it makes little difference whether your girl get enrolled into CHIJ Kellock, or not, to enjoy the privilege.
on the other hand, there are also some parents who feel that even if the affliation advantage is not that great, it is still better to attend a primary school which is affliated to a Secondary school after all, than not at all. Depends on how u feel.
thirdly, Radin Mas is a co-ed school, CHIJ Kellock is an all-girls school.
Your daughter : prefer which type of school ?
these are some factor, for you to ponder over (consider). -
Will the moderators be providing updates of take up during each phase?
I remember every year someone does it. -
hello @galaxyraider and @phtthp, thank you for the inputs
@galaxyraider affiliates is what all my friend said should consider, and they said CHIJ is a good school but nothing decided yet haha
@phtthp you have given inputs that we haven't thought before. Will do the GCE O level checking and put it in our consideration. And as for our daughter preference, last week she did mention eagerly that she wants to go to River Valley Primary school. This due to some of her peers that born in 2010 went to RVPS. But RVPS is not within 2km from our house, so i don't think she can get the slot there and its a little too late for PV now.
Thank you for the inputs, we will do the homework now and check with our daughter also which one she prefers and we will try for P2C, and crossing finger she can get the slot as its quite competitive i heard

Many CHIJ Kellock students went to the affiliated secondary not because of O level results. They simply loved the culture and environment. This is something which you can't tell from the numbers.first, you need to check whether the Secondary school which CHIJ Kellock primary, is affliated to :-

If your girl is indifferent between a single gender school and a co-ed school, look at the CCAs offered by both schools and ask her to indicate her preference. You may not be able to deduce anything from the O level results of St Theresa.hello @galaxyraider and @phtthp, thank you for the inputs

RMPS and CHIJ Kellock have different culture. If you do not mind either, perhaps like what the other forummer suggested, you may like to look at the chances of getting in. There shouldn't be any problem in your girl getting into CHIJ Kellock. As for RMPS, the school conducted balloting for SCs in the 1-2 km category last year whereas prior to that, balloting was always for SCs in the less than 1 km category. This could be because more parents registered their children in Alexandra Primary rather than RMPS.
