Historically, the official Cut-off-point for External students (non-Affliated students) to enter NYGH : is around 265.

With this new rule of 20% reserved kick off wef PSLE 2019 piggy batch - wondering aloud whether the COP for NYGH, in 2019 :
will it go above 265, or below 265 ?

      (2019 :
      Still operate under T-score)

the 20% non-affiliated requirement does not affect NYGH, right?

Even if all the girls from NY pri (I assume 50-50 for boy-girl) go into NYGH, it’s still less than 80%…no?

            I interpret it this way.
For schools like ACS (Baker Road) which takes in almost 100% of their affiliated students (regardless of their t-score), there will be an impact.

Reported in ST that the number of SJI students from its affiliated schools make up close to 40% of the secondary school population.

SJI sec affiliation COP is in range of 230 or 230+ (cant recall exact point) -consider not low range, that may explain that reason of lower percentage among direct feeder fr pri sch.

which are sec sch with no COP for their pri sch? ACS Barker, ST Patrick, St Hilda , St Marg , IJ families???

For schools like ACS (Barker) Secondary, which take in almost 100% of his Affliated students, come PSLE 2019 kick off -
From 2019 P6 old boys, some from ACS Junior, some from ACS primary : won't be able to go back to their Affliated ACS (Barker) Secondary.
20% of them cannot go back to O level Express.
Another 20% also cannot go back to Normal course.
They have to go to other Secondary schools, to study.
Their seats will be given up, released to External students, coming in from outside primary schools.

For a start, 20% may appear a small percentage. Over the years, going forward into the future, if 20% one day were to increase to a higher percentage, think old boys from ACS won't be happy.

              Why not happy?

These boys who are going to benefit from this new requirement will someday become Old Boys themselves...so theoretically, the family grows and there should be more happy old boys....no?

I believe there will be no change to NYGH affiliated COP since NYGH is not likely to be affected. Same for SCGS. I just received the school's email last evening stating that the affiliated COP of 220 will remain unchanged since SCGS is not affected.

Except for ACS (Barker), the remaining few affected affiliated secondary schools may already be taking in 10%-15% of non-affiliated students? To meet the quota of 20%, these schools may just need to absorb a few more students. So the overall impact may be quite minimal!

                  ACS International?

Many children, whom I know, from renowned primary schools, are not willing to go to neighborhood secondary schools. Most of them end up in International schools.

OT: A few of dd1's classmates, who are doing well (should be able to score above 250), are already planning to join International schools after their PSLE.

Yah lor...the best is yet to be.

Injecting new blood's for their own good. Otherwise their cohort standard may remain low forever.

I only pity those borderline NA / NT brethren who hv to exit the fraternity. Not all can afford ACS Intl. The ousted may have to go to a secular neighbourhood school.

I believe they have been taking in kids from outside for the last few years...so those who will be on the bordeline may not be that many.

those from CHIJ will be hit hard. for express stream, 200 is cut off point for affiliated primary as students will other schools need 243 to enter. if the NA cut off point is also raised, the girls from IJ primary will not be able to enter own secondary school too. heng ah! i escaped.
