Primary 3 girl in hospital following liquid soap ‘revenge’
-
-
Does the boy know liquid soap can’t be drank?
-
Soap solution should taste bitter, ya?
-
whose idea was it to put liquid soap into the water bottle? was the boy instigated by the girl or he thought of it? this boy needs to be counselled or he would become a dangerous one when he grows up.
-
When the girl drink water from water bottle, would have detected soapy water strange taste, should have spit it out immediately from her mouth instead of swallowing water, inform her Form Tr that someone tampled with content of her water bottle, trigger off investigation immediately.

this boy needs to be counselled or he would become a dangerous one when he grows up.
The spiteful P3 girl so young who seek revenge and the boy who helped her seek revenge : both are dangerous, in their thinking. When they grow up, can harm innocent people.
The P3 girl remind me of that incident reported sometime back, where that adult scholarship Chinese girl in a famous overseas university studied too much or something, then she put something into her university school mate or classmate water bottle, in the end this girl was expelled from uni -
hope the victim recover soon from trauma, health restored back to normal asap
-
Only p3 and already so vicious. Dare not imagine what she will be as she grows up. As for the boy, he has been made used of…these young kids need to be counseled.
-
Let’s not judge these children of a mere 9 years old through our tainted adult lens.

the fact that these kids are just 9 and already capable of doing something this serious calls for counselling. their classmate is in hospital after drinking the water. -

Agree that something should be done to provide them with guidance and assurance, but not to the extent of 'dangerous' or 'vicious'.ImMeeMee:

Police are investigating how a Primary 3 girl had to be hospitalised after drinking from her water bottle which a classmate had allegedly added liquid hand soap to.
The victim had a fever and bouts of vomiting afterwards, Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported yesterday.
The male classmate, nine, had reportedly wanted to help a friend from the same class who had a falling out with the girl.
On Wednesday, the boy allegedly returned to their classroom during recess time to carry out the act.
All three are Primary 3 pupils of a school in Jurong.
Shortly after the girl drank from the bottle, she developed a fever and vomited twice. The school contacted her father to take her home.
BUBBLES
The girl's father told Lianhe Wanbao that the family's maid was washing the water bottle when she noticed soap bubbles. There was also a strong smell of Dettol.
She told the girl's father, who returned to the school to question the teachers, before taking his daughter to hospital.
He said the hospital had told the police about the case.
While doctors said his daughter would not be in any danger in the long term, she was still vomiting and remained in hospital as of yesterday.
The Dettol liquid hand soap used was actually a prize won by the victim at a lucky draw held in school on the same day. Her father told Wanbao it had been left on a desk in the classroom.
On Thursday night, the boy visited the girl at the hospital, accompanied by his 27-year-old mother and a teacher, Wanbao reported.
The boy stood by the girl's bedside crying as he told her: \"Sorry.\"
The boy's mother also apologised to the girl's family at the hospital.
She said her son did not have many friends in school and that he poured the liquid soap into the girl's bottle following his friend's instruction, as he did not want to jeopardise their friendship. - THE STRAITS TIMES

For enclosed water bottles, a child may not be able to sniff the antiseptic soap scent or any other scent for that matter, through a thin, plastic straw.
Sipping via the straw would mean the girl may not have a way of spitting water out, once swallowed. -
She said her son did not have many friends in school and that he poured the liquid soap into the girl's bottle following his friend's instruction, as he did not want to jeopardise their friendship.
the boy listened to the girl's instruction because he didn't have many friends.
i hope his parents and counsellor can get the boy to come to his senses..by carrying out his friend's instruction, he had caused a classmate to fall sick. as for the 9 year old girl who had instigated him, i don't know what to say. -
This girl made use of the boy to harm the victim, so that if found out, the boy is made the scapegoat, not her.
She made use of the fact that he is lonely, does not have many friends in school, so made use of friendship to instigate him, to harm people in school.
Since she had already made use of this boy once to carry out actions to harm people, if things don’t go her way that she want, when she grow up to become adult next time, she will continue to harm others, unless she receive timely counselling in time, someone to teach her, guide her, explain to her that what she had done : is wrong. Before is too late. That is, in time to guide her back to walk the proper, correct path.
To begin with, the idea of Revenge, is already wrong !
This primary school in Jurong : whichever school it is, the Principal, the Disciplinary master, their Form Tr, and their parents most important of all, better guide these kids, back to the proper road.
This time round, because it happen to be soap liquid, so the smell is there, easily to be detected.
Fortunately, the strong smell of Dettol was detected, as been reported by the press.
But had it been for some odourless, colourless, tasteless, un-detectable chemical poured into her water bottle, this poor little P3 victim would have died, suppose they did not rush her in time to the hospital, to flush out the toxic content from her stomach in time, because nobody would ever suspect that it actually came from her water bottle, and she had consumed it, un-suspectingly, innocently. Or even if she did not die, the chemical left inside her body might have caused disastrous, harmful effects to the organs in her body, leading to possible long-term, irreversible permanent damages, in the long run, if not flushed out from stomach in time.
The Principal of this primary school in Jurong, whichever school it is, better sit up. Is a very grave, serious matter that happened in his / her school.
Poor victim.
Imagine : if this incident had happened to your own kid in your child’s school, how would you feel, as her parents ?
As for the principal of the school, The most important point of contact, is to speak to the parents of that girl, find out why she instigated the boy to do harmful acts, against her classmates.
Going forward, If the child understand that what she had done is wrong, willing to repent, there is still hope, for this child.
As for the boy, besides receiving school counselling, his parents also should find out why he doesn’t have much friends in school.
At the same time, since the word “Revenge” is being used -
that means before the contaminate Dettol water-bottle incident happen, the victim herself must have done something that antagonised or irritated the girl, so much so that the girl decided to take law into her own hands, by retaliating back on the victim, or so-called seek Revenge. Hence, the vicious cycle of viciousness, began.
This part : the newspaper never report, what actually happened, before that.
Have to listen to both sides of the story. -
I think it is too harsh to call a 9-yr-old scheming, wicked, etc…
It is most probably a prank went wrong. I don’t think that it is a case of deliberate act of trying to make someone else the scapegoat. All of us must have pushed/egged someone else to do ‘the job’… ’ you go ask’, ’ you do it’, etc… No?
They are after all only 8-9yr olds. How vicious can a child be at that age? Please be kinder in your judgement. -
Agreed that they may not fully understand the implications and may have meant it as a prank. But, they have to be properly guided to prevent their actions from escalating.
-
Yes, all parties need to be guided. In fact, all the schools can use this opportunity to speak to all the children.
‘What if the victim is your child?’, but there is a chance that the ‘instigator’ may be your child too, no? -

- the 9 year old boy who has little friends. did he bring this up to his parents? it's sad being lonely and not having friends, so he is very happy when he thought he finally found a friend, only to be told to poison another classmate.
- the girl who instigated the boy to put liquid soap in the victim's water bottle. why did she think of doing such a thing? she is only 8+ or 9. did the victim make her so angry that made her resort to poisoning?
- could this have been prevented? did anyone in the class know what happened?
- how is the principal, discipline master and form teacher going to resolve this?
