Early dec, travel by SQ. Abt $800 plus. There are rooms that can accomodate 4 or 5 adults but they are easily taken up.
That is really a good deal. Last Dec when I went. it went up to $1500 sin-osk-sin. -

it helps to book early. Hotel is free cancellation so can change if a better deal comes along. -
For Japan (Hokkaido) in August, any idea when is the latest time to book air tickets and hotels (at decent price)?
I heard August is peak tourist period. Wonder if two months in advance is sufficient?
Thanks! -

Hi, If you read Japanese, http://wifi.city.fukuoka.lg.jp/%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E6%89%8B%E9%A0%86/ seems decent. The Use Procedure does not seem translated into English but http://wifi.city.fukuoka.lg.jp/zh-cn/%E4%BD%BF%E7%94%A8%E6%96%B9%E6%B3%95 is available in ä¸ć.tankee:

Iijmio SIM data card. Paid JPY4080 for 2GB data, valid for 3 mths. Its works on NTT DoCoMo network. Coverage was every good. We did not see it at the airport, but bought it BIC camera shop next to the Hakata train station. Check out this link for list of retailers that sell it:may be heading to Kyushu, landing at Fukuoka airport

Consider starhub prepaid card? They have a Happy Roaming option. I paid $7 for 7days (1Gb). There are other options available. Limited scope but it covers HK/China/S Korea/Japan/USA/Thailand/MYS. I went to HK/China/Macau recently and was able to use this in HK/China. Within the period, as long as you are in one of the countries, you don't need to buy extra when you hop to another country. I used it when I was in US end of last year, went to JB after my US trip and I could still surf. Do note that you need to keep a min amount in your main balance else roaming may be impacted.may be heading to Kyushu, landing at Fukuoka airport

You can start booking now I guess. Saw many airfare promos to Japan, e.g. ANA.For Japan (Hokkaido) in August, any idea when is the latest time to book air tickets and hotels (at decent price)?

Heard the Shinkansen to Hokkaido is under utilised! Very empty and some delays during the winter season.
I didn't know that Aug is the peak season for Hokkaido leh. Any PHs in Japan then? Thought it's Dec-Mar cos of skiing. -
Sharing my encounter while sourcing hotels (Dec) in both Hokkaido and Tokyo.
The hotels (3 and 4*) are usually open for booking in about 6 months, so if you try to source now you can only find dates till Sep.
Send email directly to the hotel to ask for dates and the kids surcharges staying with parents.
Most kids stay free with parent (without extra bed), just need to pay for breakfast.
Some hotels charge JPY1,000 for 1 child.
Their beds are really small, 0.9m for single bed and 1.1m for twin bed, so are their rooms.
For family, good to take their 33-35sqm room and not the standard room of 18sqm or 25sqm.
