NUS High had compiled last year (2016) results of primary schools' participation, in SPSO.

Who are the students, getting Gold award, for Science Olympiad ?
          mostly, from GEP schools
(can count yourself, how many get Gold)

Then, Who get Silver & Bronze award ?
          many students, from Non-GEP schools
          (can count yourself)

Source of info (from NUS High)

Ya…There are schools who sent participants but none got awards, so these will not be reflected in the above list…Does not mean they did not participate.

from above link, u will know whether your prmary school had participated or not, in SO or in MO, or won anything or not.

Above schools only show those that had won award(s).

                Another way is -
Approach your School’s Maths / Science HOD, ask whether your school had participated, or not. This way, u will know.

If didn’t participate, can also ask HOD why. They will tell u reason

P4 year is the best time to close up any gaps that the child faces and weaknesses have to be addressed and help to be sought either by parents’ private intervention to coach the child or to engage a tutor. Spending too much time on leisure activities, extra enrichment activities like ballet, gym, piano, art, during weekends when the child has difficulty coping with the academic workload in school, will open the floodgate of doing catch up work when the child moves on to P5.

Review your child’s work once in a while. At P4 level, the child should be an independent self-directed learner, does his/her own filing and be capable of doing his/her own self-learning at home.

There are children who do not do well in school because they are not focusing when the teachers are teaching. The attention span is somewhere else, either the child daydreams or the child is doing something else secretly under the desk. Parents are kept in the dark. The shock will come to the family when the child does badly in exams. The teacher is the best person to approach to find out about how your child learns in school. Being defensive about your own child will not allow the teacher to spill the beans totally.

So little time, but so much need to accomplish in such a short time for SA1, in 3 weeks’ time
